A TravelMate P-414 in our fleet running Windows 10 has been having an error where it disk checks on boot and says that it is scanning and repairing drive. It doesn't seem like it is doing anything but it is a nuisance that increases boot time. The error in Windows Security and Maintenance tab on the control panel lists that the Drive Status is "Restart Needed" and that it needs to be restarted to repair drive errors. This does not work. This has been an issue for a few days and the only thing I can possibly link it to is a firmware update of Insyde 5.42.1.41. I rolled back the driver to 5.42.1.40 which didn't fix the issue. I ran a chkdsk which didn't seem to report any issues. Acer Control Center is not reporting any issues. A MiniTool Partition Wizard check disk didn't report any issues. An SFC scan did find a corrupt file and repaired but didn't fix the issue. I am attaching pictures of everything that is listed here for visual information. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

We have had reports of people seeing issues with those Windows Update changes to the BIOS, but as suggested usually it's an issue with the defaults and resetting them seems to fix it. Your issue sounds more like it is a drive problem. Can you check the SMART report for the drive? Often when the drives are just starting to fail they recover themselves, mostly, and give errors like you are seeing.
