Hi All

You recently helped me with a black screen issue but I now have another problem.

I fitted a new screen and the laptop worked perfectly for several weeks. A few days ago the screen started to flicker/go black but only sporadically. It mainly occurs when the cursor goes over a box in which you can enter search data. I can watch BBC/ITV/Sky Sports football matches without a problem so I don't think it can be a faulty screen or connection.

Any ideas on what I can try to sort out the problem? Please remember I'm not very computer literate so very simple instructions would be appreciated!

Cheers

Simon

    Hi AnhEZ28

Tried to do the update but got the above Error Log. Which driver do I need to update?

@simonz1red then you can try using the Intel and Driver support assistant to update the driver.

@AnhEZ28 , I managed to update the Intel Graphics Driver but the problem persists. I have to use my laptop connected to a monitor in order to get a trouble free screen. Any more thoughts? Simon

  • Have you tried lowering the display resolution and refresh rate?

I understand you say "I fitted a new screen and the laptop worked perfectly for several weeks. A few days ago the screen started to flicker/go black but only sporadically. It mainly occurs when the cursor goes over a box in which you can enter search data."

Let us do the basic steps. I will guide you step by step.

First of all, we need to determine whether it is a hardware or software issue..  Turn off the computer.  Tap f2 while turning on the computer.  It will go to bios.  Please stay on the bios screen for 30 mins.  If the display is looking good on bios then it is a software issue.  If the display is not looking good on the bios screen then it is a hardware issue.

If it is a software issue try the following the steps..

    Try windows x

    go to device manager

    expand display adapter

right click on display driver - uninstall

    Restart the computer

    It should work fine..

If it is still not working

Uninstall the display adapter from device manager

    Don’t restart the computer.

    Go to support.acer.com

    chose your country

type snid or chose your model

    go to drivers

    Install the display driver

    It should work fine..

Thanks for the responses today. After posting again today I discovered that a Windows 11 update was due to be installed. I duly installed it and the problem seems to have gone away! I'm a bit sceptical that this was the simple solution, only time will tell!!

Thanks again for the responses, which I will try should the issue reoccur.

    Simon 😊

I am glad your problem was fixed due to a pending update.

If the same problem occurs again you can even try a system restore to resolve the issue.

Sometimes a simple system restore will fix the issue..

    Try windows x

click on power shell admin or command prompt admin

    type rstrui

chose an earlier date on which your computer was working fine

    click on next, finish, yes

It will restore your computer to an earlier date

if you get an message - system restore not completed - click on close

It will show you all the icons..

Click on "Yes" if it answers your question.
