Hi,

I have an Acer Predator Helios 300 laptop PH317-53 with a panel B173HAN04.0 (FHD) and I'm looking into a possibility to upgrade the panel to higher resolution.

I've found a few possible panels with the same size 40 pins connector (this UHD one for example B173ZAN05.0), but the only thing which makes me confused that in the original panel specs it's written that the signal interface is eDP (2 Lanes) while in all the panels with higher resolution it's eDP (4 Lanes) (though with lower refresh rate of 60hz vs 144hz of the original panel).

Could anyone tell me please would be the new panel compatible with my laptop? Is there any difference in the edp cable and/or socket?

The HAN4 should have a 4 lane (edp 1.4) interface at 144Hz. You might have a mislabeled HAN4.2 if it's marked 2 lane. In either case, the ZAN5 should be OK if its dimensions shown below are close to being the same.

For anyone looking for the same or similar:

I ordered the display B173ZAN05.0 , it arrived, the size of the display itself has matched and display worked with the laptop. But there was somewhat big issue: the size of the controller is bigger and doesn't fit into the back case. I've solved it anyway: The back panel is connected to the swivel using 2 metal plates with 4 screws each. The left/rightmost part of the plate with a screw is what was blocking the new display to fit into the case. I deemed it's safe just to cut the part of the plate and remove the plastic nest for the screw. 15 minutes of work with a saw and solder (to remove plastic) and it's done. The display fits almost perfectly, just in the bottom bezel is little bit curved at the place of edp connector because the connector is also not at the same place. I guess that also could be sorted out with a different cable but I don't mind, that's not noticeable.

Attaching here the pictures of the issue and the fixing process.

Congrats. Some folks might be reluctant. Thanks for reporting back though. 🙂
