Thank you guys in advance. 20 years ago I could of handled upgrading a desktop PC but my sons laptop has me questioning myself.

He has a Nitro 5 AN515-55-53E5, with 256gb and 8gb of RAM.

He is wanting to upgrade it, and I thought about putting an extra hard drive in the bay available. But does this board have ability to have 2 M.2 NVMe SSD?

What are the max size for each slot on this board.

Thanks in advance, maybe 20 years ago i could have known where to look. But I have never worked on laptops before.

I found this on a post "The Nitro 5 - AN515-55 supports and has provisions for 1x 2.5" SDD at interface SATA-3 6GB/sec and 2x 2280mm type M.2 interface PCIe Gen.3x4 which includes the NVMe type drives that are all 22 mm wide and 80 mm long. And yes the Samsung NVMe 980 and 980 Pro will fit and work 100% in the AN515-55."

But I'm wondering if there is a max size for this board? So if it already has 256gb what can i put in the second slot?

The Acer Nitro 5 AN515-55 has provisions for 2x PCIe 3 x4 M.2 SSDs and 1x 2.5" SATA 3 6GB/s type drive, also I would suggest that you upgrade the ram to 2x 8GB DDR4-3200 and match the oem 8GB that you have, as that will make this laptop work in dual channel memory which is allot better than single channel and 16GB is a perfect capacity for the latest Win-11 version 22H2 OS build 22621.963 which you should be running this laptop on.

This is where the 2x M.2 SSDs are and the types of drives compatible with the AN515-55:

    M.2 SSD1

    M.2 SSD2

    M.2 SSD types

@William_mk2 is there a size limit on this board for a second M.2?

    Can it handle a 2tb + a 256gb?

Hi, I know this is an old post.

I have this which I believe is the same. If I go on to crucial and put in Acer AN515-55 it says the maximum is 64gb, so 32gb per bank. Can someone confirm this. I don't want to blow the board. I use I mainly for photo editing and when I only paid £199 brand new it's worth upgrading.
