I was using my laptop spin 3 series when the low battery warning appeared so I plugged it to recharge but it didn't recharge I tried to reset the battery by putting the pin into the reset hole and I heard the click but in vain! I bought this laptop last July and I have been very decent using it. Can the problem be with the battery ? Do I need to change it and how to avoid this to happen again if I could fix it ?

What is your Spin 3 exact model number, have you updated all this laptops windows and all drivers and also its bios, as that is important also. Check the DC port if its making 100% connection with the chargers plug and check its connection, make sure that the DC port round side ports negative side pins are making contact with the chargers plug negative and positive pins, as that could be a major issue, check the charger if its working with a multi meter as the chargers side is the negative and its internal pin is the positive.

Also do a hard reset first by opening the back cover and disconnect the battery and the RTC/BIOS batteries and leave them unplugged for at least 15min, reconnect all and reboot, as that should fix your laptop is its a super IO or a BIOS chip freeze that this action fixes, if that doesn’t fix your problem then its an internal power issue that you need to take your laptop to an experienced tech to diagnose and fix, as a user like you hasn’t got the tools and especially experience to fix, as these power on problems are due to mosat and capacitors that burn out and its very rare that a 17 moths old battery is faulty as batteries just don't go wrong after that period of time.

Your final sentence summed it up perfectly! I'm less than 6 months into my purchase and I'm already having problems!

Btw, it started charging after about an hour of plugging, then I unplugged it to use it when the battery reached 94%, and when I plugged it back in, I had the same problem until now. I'm hoping to find it recharging again in an hour. Does this help to pinpoint the source of the problem?

We can't really give you targeted information without knowing which laptop you have. "Spin 3" could be any of literally hundreds of different models. :) You can find the full model number on the same sticker as your serial number and it should looks something like SP3xx-xxx-xxxx. At 6 months you are still in warranty, but let's try to pin it down a little more before starting a ticket with Acer support.
