System sp.:

  • Ryzen 7 5800h
  • rtx 3070 (100W)

hey i was wondering is it passible (and how to do it) to flash VBIOS on this pc card hits power limit preatty quick and as far as i measuered i hit max 30-35w on cpu and 100 on gpu so there is some room left on power brick (180W). i would like to set gpu power limit to 110 or 115 it would greatly help with clocks. as for a temperatures cpu is 85C max and gpu 70 max withs fans never going over 3.6k rpm im not worried about cooling.

Usually not. Discrete GPU temps exceeding about 85*C often exhibit throttling behavior and risks damage if repeatedly exceeded. If you want to risk it anyway, there are 3rd party freeware apps like msiafterburner to try overclocking. If you do this, I strongly suggest raising the laptop about an inch above a hard surface to promote better airflow. Coolers often don't work as well.

as i said power limit is a problem i already have oc applied +200 mhz on my gpu but since it hits power limit super fast clocks go down to 1290 or 1350 so and gpu sits at 68 to 70 *C at ~ 4k fan rpm (they can go to 5700 on gpu ) i know it can handle + 15 wats with no problem other issue is when i tried to download v bios pc just gives me blue screen and when i try to just install new v bios it says i dont have nvidia card or "no nvidia gpu detected " for some reason

That may be because it's meant for the 3070 desktop version, not the 3070 mobile laptop version.

i got past that a minute ago but funny thing is now i have this issue

my vBIOS is targetting same pci as my original driver and i cant apply it because pci ID is diffrent even tho its the same

That also might be due to desktop vs mobile 3070 hardware. If forcing installation of incompatible firmware succeeds, the risk for disabling the chip is also high. You might want to post to the nvidia users forums before proceeding any further.

as you could see bios version is same to old and new that was when i tried to force original vBIOS on to same bios and it spits out invalid target even tho original bios has same target

Yes but that seems to be expected. If both versions are exactly the same and meant for the same chip, the installation usually fails or presents an error message by default. Failure or error messages also happen when trying to install an earlier version meant for the same chip.

I'm not sure about nvidia-written firmware. Acer-written firmware usually can only be forced by modifying an initialization file created in the directory in which the installation executable resides. If this file isn't modified, the Acer installation only succeeds with firmware that is newer than the existing firmware and fails for the same or ealier versions.

    • how do i modyfy it to get 115 w power limit and 90 to 100 target
    • how do i enter acers "advanced" bios tab to do cpu undervolt

I can only tell you how to force Acer-written BIOS firmware to overwrite an existing version with the same or earlier versions. Accordingly, you will have to ask on the nvidia forums if it's possible to force the nvidia-written vBIOS firmware to do what you want.

Any hidden user-available options in the Acer-written BIOS firmware are revealed by pressing Ctrl+S in any BIOS menu tab or section. Most Acer-written laptop BIOS do not have a user-available options for undervolting or overclocking. 3rd party freeware may be able to do this.
