I was excited as all getout to purchase a conceptd 3 laptop. It had all I wanted, speed and ability. The only thing it lacked was windows 10 pro. I did a clean install like i've done over the past 30 years of building and design work. It was impossible to reload the acer drivers and programs that came with the computer. I contacted a tech rep to get help restoring the machine to factory settings. Reply was - The machine was sold with windows 10 home. Call microsoft if you need help. Over the years I've owned ibm, dell, acer, hp, home built computers with asus and msi motherboards, and some custom built computers. I've never had any problems upgrading, installing factory drivers, or getting helpfrom vendors.

Returned the computer. People using acer products need to know the great help: The machine was sold with windows 10 home. Call microsoft if you need help.

Thanks Acer

May the acer community not allow acer's low level of service.

mooze sorry to read your problem(s) that you’ve had with your ConceptD 3 laptop, as these laptops are a state-of-the-art display technology high-end for graphic design, CAD, animations, and other similar programs laptops. I don’t know which exact ConceptD 3 model number laptop you had but and seeing that you have 30 years extensive experience in building computers, you should know how to remedy these problems as they are not hard or impossible to fix.

Also, you should have looked at the OEM OS that the ConceptD 3 laptop that you bought had before you bought this laptop, as if the specs say Win-10 Pro then that is what you should have gotten, as there are different models that either come with Windows Home or Pro and just as an example, the new Win-11 ConceptD laptops D3 or D7 have only one version that comes with Win-11 Home which is the "ConceptD 7 Ezel Pro, Windows 11 Home, Intel Core i7-11th Gen, 32GB RAM, 1TB PCIe, Nvidia RTX A3000" that retails from Acer at $6,599 as the ConceptD 3 must have been an older version? But and as you know, you can easily upgrade your Win-10 Home to Pro with buying a new key from Microsoft (and also this laptop can be upgraded to Win-11 for FREE) you should have known all this after you say that “Over the years I've owned ibm, dell, acer, hp, home built computers with asus and msi motherboards, and some custom built computer” that OEM drivers are NOT the latest drivers that are around and if installed properly “there is NO way that they don’t install” into any PC as you must have done something wrong.

Anyway, its very unfortunate that you returned the ConceptD 3 laptop as you should have known that you could have upgraded this laptop to Windows 11 Home or Pro latest version 22H2 OS version 22621.819 which is an excellent OS and also got this laptop every driver (as Acer has Win-10 and 11 OEM drivers) at their Drivers & Manuals. Also, you could have additionally made sure that all Windows Updates are up to date used the specialist software scan of the Intel® Driver & Support Assistant and installed the latest NVidia drivers (if your Concept 3 had the NVidia graphics) and update that driver, as all these software updates would have updated your system to the most current and workable drivers for either Win-10 or Win-11 Home or Pro. Don’t give Acer a bad name as there is allot of solutions that Acer goes out of its way to inform its users and inform users for different problems that they may have, like this Acer community for a start and their online tutorials. But I’m really amazed that a person like you with so much experience, should have had those problems in the first place. Good luck and hope that you use an Acer PC again 😀

    Hi @mooze,

We thank you for joining our Acer community.

We are very sorry to hear on what happened. Please be informed, Acer Community is not a direct portal to Customer service, the Acer Forum Discussions were designed as a peer-to-peer support community where Acer users help other Acer users. Many Acer employees (Moderators), read the various topics posted here and you will notice that some Acer employees interact with members when appropriate, primarily we want the community to be a place where members can exchange their own advice and ideas.

I agree with our fellow member @StevenGen comments. Since, the OEM device is shipped with Windows 10 Home acer would be able to assist you with the same. However, if you would like to upgrade the OS you can visit Microsoft store and upgrade to windows 10 Pro (charges applicable).

Note: This thread will be now closed.

Sorry for any inconveniences this has caused you.

    Regards,

    Acer-Samuel
