I've recently bought a new 1760 i5 aspire which is not fitted with an internal dvd drive. The unit was supplied with the necessary cable and fitting for a slim drive. I have subsequently installed an Hitachi-LG GUD1N Internal DVD Drive, and when connected, the computer won't boot. Has anyone come actross this problem? Any help would be appreciated.

    1. Is the optical drive connected to the SATA #3 socket?
    2. Have you entered the BIOS menu by tapping DEL key on startup?
    3. Then checked BIOS menu advanced tab peripherals and boot tab to see if the optical drive is recognized, initialized and in proper boot order?

Being that you can't get into Bios, double check everything or replace it.
