Where is the 'Carry In' point and is the 1st year warranty different to the additional years.

Assuming you're in the UK, carry in would very likely be to the service center located at the address below. The International warranty is usually only while travelling not for relocating outside the UK. 3 year should be same as 1 year standard as long as you pay the pounds.

No. Still no Cu rrys over here in New Jersey. At least none that I know about within walking distance.

So I have to deal with places like Be stB uy. . If you know places like C urrys --- and if you also know places like Be stBu y --- you'd also know that places like Be stBu y are no places Cu rrys for trying make deals as good as online stores. 🙂

    @JackE Thanks for replying,

My old Acer is dying and is difficult to use. I ordered a new one from this site last night and added the 4 year warranty (it had £30 off). I don't know if the 4 year starts straight away or after the one year warranty that comes with the laptop. I would like to speak to someone about this and not have to use high rate number. I seem to be on hold for ages when I phone companies. The rot set in during Covid lockdown.

Instead of phoning, go to this link and submit your warranty question via an email.

I submitted a question yesterday and haven't had a reply.

Sometimes it's better and quicker to talk to a person NOT chat via keyboard or webmail .😕

Why not try all communications modes to see which one responds first. Even snailmail. Or take a nice ride to Tewkesbury to ring their doorbell. Try each a couple of times. Persistence often pays off. 🙂

You are a credit to the Acer Community, 😣

I phoned and got an engaged tone all the time. I filled in the email form and I also posted on Twitter. No reply was the result. If I have to travel from London to Tewkesbury to get attention I shall take the new unopened Acer with me and return it for a refund. Plus I will claim the travel costs.

    🙌 what is this?

If it was me, I'd probably shop a decent brick & mortar store like Curry's and let them answer my questions before buying from them instead.

JackE, I'm saving about £100 buying in the Acer shop and getting £30 off the 4 year warranty. So it's hard to miss out on that deal.

I phoned the Acer number this morning and got through straight away. They answered all my questions and I knew it was possible to speak to a person. The new laptop is here and I hope to set it up tomorrow or Friday, when I have a few hours free.

Currys!! Are you an Acer owner or do you just stalk other owners in the Community. 😆🤔

@JackE I thought NJ was NI so believed you lived in Northern Ireland not New Jersey. I should wear my specs.

The stalker comment was my attempt at humour. I'm sure you are a very, very nice man. 🤐🤞

We don't have Best Buy in the UK. Currys & John Lewis are two popular high street stores that sell electronic gear and appliances but they don't hold a huge selection in any one store so we end up buying from their online stores. I bought my old Acer in John Lewis and they provided very good online support under the warranty. Because the Acer lasted so long and the only problems have been with Drivers, I feel reasonably confident about buying from the Acer shop. I hope I don't regret it.

I will now mark this question solved and if I need help when I set up the new PC I will start a new post.
