This problem is a windows problem and your settings and its not the Acer monitor. Do this if you want your laptop closed and use an external monitor:

    • On Windows 10, right-click the Battery icon > Power Options > Choose what closing the lid does.
    • Select Do Nothing under Plugged in. Choosing Do nothing for On battery means the laptop will still run even if you disconnect it.

In Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options\System Settings change the setting to do nothing when you close the lid on the laptop. The external monitor will stay up.
