I purchased an Aspire V3-571, which arrived yesterday. After upgrading from the pre installed windows 8 to my own licenced copy of windows 8 pro with media centre, I lost the webcam application somehow.
However, it is not listed on the software download page for the v3-571 with windows 8.
I ended up selecting windows 7 as the OS, and it then listed it for download (it seems to work fine on windows 8).
I had the exact same problem with my old laptop (Aspire 5552) with the empowering technology toolbar after a reformat. It simply did not appear on the site for any windows 7 laptops (only windows vista, but that copy would not work on windows 7). A factory restore using the recovery disks did not get it back either.
Edit: After looking around the forum, I have just remembered that the download was available on the site. However, it had the same issue as in http://community.acer.com/t5/Special-Interest-Discussions/Acer-Crystal-Eye-Webcam-problem/m-p/58491
There is no setup file in the archive after downloading it.
