Hi all,

I have been struggling with connecting my laptop (Swift 3 SF314-59-72VC) with the Acer USB Type-C Dock II.

Following the instructions, the only thing that seems to be working is that the Dock charges my laptop (actually not really, the charging symbol shows,

but the battery charge is slowly decreasing), I cannot use the dock's HDMI nor the USB ports, any device connected to those shows no response.

The dock also doesn't show up in my device manager.

When I try to check the version of the firmware through the FW and Driver Update Tool, the tool goes to 100% and no longer responds, FW Upgrade and Check Version become greyed out.

When trying to update the FW directly it reaches 15% and says Timeout: device not found.

Am I missing something or are these two devices not compatible with each other?

Thanks a lot in advance!

The type-C port on the left side is a thunderbolt 4 port that should support video out signals and other i/o if the dock is thunderbolt compatible. What is the full model number of the dock? Did you try pressing F5 or FN+F5 to try to turn the external screen on?

Sorry for the slow response, yes I tried turning the screen on throuh Fn + F5, but nothing happens.

The exact model of the dock is NP.DCK11.01N

  • Is thunderbolt enabled in bios?

If the plug is fully seated in the port I'd lean toward there being a problem with the dock. It sounds like it's connecting and disconnecting...

    >>>dock is NP.DCK11.01N>>>

Should work fine. Maybe you just lucked out and bought an expensive lemon. 😯 Can you check video out and connect thunderbolt port directly to an external monitor OK with an appropriate cable adapter ?
