Acer Spin CP513-2H Chromebook won't let me use the micro SD card for app storage.

Hi,

I have recently bought an Acer spin 513 Chromebook and I can't get apps to use the micro SD card.

The main apps that I want to download to the micro SD card are, Amazon music, Prime video, Netflix and Disney Plus .

I have fitted s Sandisk 256 GB Extreme Micro SD card, I have tried formatting it as exFAT, FAT32 and NFTS, I have tried different cards, also tried using a USB A SD card adaptor in the USB A slot.

I have turned ON the use external storage option in the settings and gone into the into individual apps to allow storage permissions , but I still can't select external storage in the apps.

When I open the Files app, I can see the micro SD card, and I can create folders in it.

In Amazon music, I can select external storage, but the SD Card Status is "Your SD card is offline".

I did email Acer last night explaining the problem, but they were no help, there reply was " We do not provide support for system customizations".

Is this a limitation of Chromebooks, and all Chromebooks have the same problem with not being able to use external storage with media apps?

Has anyone with an Acer Spin 513 been able to use external storage for media apps?

Any help with getting the external storage to work would be appreciated.

Thanks

Andy

ChromeOS doesn't really have support for running apps off the external storage, but they should be able to store data on it. I'd contact the Amazon Music folks to see what's going on there. I use it on my Android phone and it doesn't have any issues with external storage, but I haven't even looked for a Chrome version...
