Hello. I recently bought an Acer Aspire 7 a715-42g with 8gb 3200mhz ram, rtx 3050 35w, 256gb ssd. This laptop isn't even nearly giving the performance it should give.

My main problem is CPU usage. Any game i play is well GPU-CPU balanced, but my CPU usage is always high, meanwhile RTX 3050 Gpu is used minimally. I get that my ram amount is low and it is single channel so the problem may be because of that but the people who bought the same specs' review very differently.

For example, in CS:GO i get around 80-90, very unstable, framerates; in Far Cry 5(not even FC6) i get 40-50 frames per second, 90% CPU utilized. These FC5 stats are like Ryzen 5 5500u's Vega7 graphic modules.. I installed every single driver, i even installed older versions of some of the drivers but i still get the same performance.

*Temprature wise, since my CPU is utilized very much i sometimes see around 90-95 celcius degrees.

I really lost hope, now i am asking you guys. Hope you can help me out :()

Edit: The RTX3050 drivers are not shared in the laptop's drivers section.

What OS are you using, and have you got the latest NVidia driver for the RTX-3050 which is the Version:522.25 WHQL, as when you update the NVidia graphics drivers, you need to completely uninstall the previous drivers with the NVidia driver "Uninstall Option" and then install the new driver.

Also, you need to have all your Windows Updates, the AMD and Nvidia drivers up to date also! The best and most efferent way to setup gaming for an NVidia card like the RTX-3050 is to install and use their GeForce Experience software and use this software's NVidia game settings that has a specific and best settings for CS:GO and many other games that they have, this is done automatically once GeForce Experience detects CS:GO. Or you can get a specific setting like here for CS:GO as there are many on the web of how to change the NVidia Control Panel settings!

The problem that you have is that you haven't setup your Aspire 7 A715-42G properly for gaming and its OS with the best drivers and its overall settings, that is why its heavily underperforming. Try to also enable TRIM for the SSD drives to perform more efficiently, clear/boost ram and increase ram to its max at 32GB or16GB should be the minimum in dual channel, like 32GB in pairs of 16GB modules or 16GB in pair modules of DDR4-3200Mhz ram, as dual channel ram is the superior ram setup configuration in gaming and is much more efficient than single channel ram and doing all the above will also make your laptop perform at its best and peak performance. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

If it is still not working try the steps given below:

Here are some of the steps to increase the performance of your computer.

Try windows + r - on the run window - type msconfig - click ok

    click on services

check - hide all microsoft services

    click on disable all

    click on startup

    disable all the startup items

click on apply - ok - restart the computer.   Loading process will be very fast now..

Note: You can always enable the services and startup items later or set it to normal startup from selective startup later on the General tab

Try windows + r - on the run window - type appwiz.cpl - click ok

it will show you the list of programs

remove all the unwanted third party programs.

    Please don’t remove any drivers.

If you are not sure , please don’t remove it.

Try windows + r - on the run window type temp - click ok - it will show you the bunch of files - try ctrl + a - select all files - press the shift key and click on delete files

Try windows + r - on the run window type %temp% - click ok - It will show you the bunch of files - try ctrl + a - select all files - press the shift key and click on delete files

    click on settings

Scroll down - go to advanced

click on restore setting to default

you will see reset settings - cancel

    click on reset settings

    Open chrome

    it will work faster now

If it is still not working then we have to do a refresh and reset

click on start - settings - update and security - recovery - reset this pc - get started

    or

on start - type here to search - type reset this pc - click on reset this pc on the top - click on get started

It will show you keep my files and remove everything

    chose keep my files

chose the account - type the password - click on local reinstall - click on reset

    It will be in progress..

login to computer and start using the computer.

If it is still not working

click on start - settings - update and security - recovery - reset this pc - get started

    chose remove everything

click on local reinstall - just remove my files - click on reset

    It will be in progress

    Note:

If you do refresh ( keep my files ) - all your personal files like pictures, music , documents , videos will still be intact.  Only the applications will be lost

If you do reset ( remove everything ) - you are doing a factory default.  It will become like a day one computer.  It will wipe out everything and take your computer to day one like a new computer.

You can also do the recovery in an alternative way..

There are two alt keys on the keyboard. If you look at the bottom row of keyboard you can see the one on the left side of space bar and the other on the right side of space bar. The alt key on the right side will be looking like alt, alt gr or alt car. Turn off the computer. Hold the alt key on the left and tap f10 continuously.  It will go to repair mode. It will show you chose an option, continue, troubleshoot.  If it is not going to repair mode, turn off the computer. Turn on the computer. Hold the right alt key ( alt gr or alt car or alt ) and then tap f10 continuously. It will go to chose an option continue and troubleshoot..

It will show you chose an option, continue, troubleshoot

Go to troubleshoot - click on reset this pc

click on keep my files ( only applications will be lost )  chose your account and type your password  - click on local reinstall - click on reset

    It will be in progress

If the keep my files option is not working

Go to troubleshoot - click on reset this pc – click on remove everything – click on local reinstall – just remove my files – click on reset

    It will reinstall windows.

If the just remove my files is not working..

Go to troubleshoot - click on reset this pc – click on remove everything – click on local reinstall – Fully clean the drive – click on reset

    It will reinstall windows.

Note: You can also go to chose an option , continue , troubleshoot by holding the alt key + tapping f10 or alt gr + tapping f10 on the keyboard while turning on the computer.  Once you see the troubleshoot option, you can stop tapping the f10 and stop holding the alt key.  Then you can try the keep my files and remove everything ( just remove by files and fully clean the drive ) by following the steps which was mentioned above.

i did driver installation, by removing and installing driver from geforce experience, also did a clean setup from there, it did not change a thing. as i mentioned my GPU does not run bad, my CPU does. What is strange to me is when i benchmark my CPU i see it performs better than average but when playing games my CPU just does not even manage to do OK... My Radeon version is the latest, i did every update mostly from Acer support website, rest from Driver Booster app. I have everything just installed, i have enough space for the games, have enough air flow under the heatsink, yet cpu overheats up to 80 degrees and underperforms regardless.

Also, i use Win11 with clean setup, with no viruses or memory eating apps. I'll upgrade my RAM to 8+8 as soon as possible, i just hope the issue is because of my RAM, which i highly don't think it is

Upgrade the OEM 1x 8GB single channel module to the exact spec and additional 1x 8GB module to get dual channel as that will perform much better for gaming and will ease your cpu from overworking with these games (do a Crucial Scan or look at this scan Aspire A715-41G) as its because of your low 8GB ram that your cpu is performing poorly in gaming.

If you want to play high end games and use this laptop for editing and any high end stuff its best to upgrade to the max total capacity for this laptop which is a total of 32GB and upgrade to the speediest ram, which is a combo of 2x 16GB modules at DDR4-3200 • CL=22 (make sure its this CL22 nd not CL16,17,18 as CL22 is this laptops recommended ram type ) • NON-ECC • SODIMM • 260-pin • 1.2V • 2Rx8/1Rx8 • PC4-25600 type ram and don't use any other spec ram or mix the two modules with different MHz ram, as ram always works at the lowest speed if modules are mixed.
