Sound only from right speaker on VG240Y S.

Hello,

Sound is only coming from the right speaking on my VG240Y S monitor. This is verified with two different laptops and with both HDMI and Displayport. In both cases the left channel is missing, it's not a mono mix but only the right channel.

Is there anything else I can do to troubleshoot or fix this? It is purchased in Australia and I believe it has a 3 year warranty. I bought the monitor about 11 months ago but had only unpacked it today.

I am really sorry for the inconvenience. These are basic steps which we can try on monitor and on computer Also please double check with alternative cables.

It might be a cable issue..  Remove all the cables from monitor.  Press and hold the power button of monitor for 1 min.  Connect all the cables back. Try to turn on the monitor.  Connect the monitor to computer and check. If the cable is non removable please don't try to remove it.

Please remove the cable between monitor and computer.   Try to connect it back and check.  If possible try to use an alternative cable and check.

If the problem persists try to use an alternative power cable and display cable and check.  Try to bypass the surge protector and connect the monitor directly to power outlet.  Try to connect monitor on a different power outlet or surge protector and check.

On the monitor – use the control buttons.  There will be an option to reset monitor settings to default.  Try to reset the monitor and check.

To isolate the issue, try to use the same monitor to a different computer and check or Try to use an alternative monitor with speakers on this computer and check.

On the computer, perform the following steps...

    Try windows x

Go to device manager - Go to sound video and game controllers. Expand it

Uninstall the sound driver from device manager. Please uninstall all the items below the sound video and game controllers. Restart the computer. It should work fine..

    More troubleshooting:

    * I tried the headphone port on the monitor. Both channels work. So the audio connection from computer to monitor is fine and there is no problem at the computer.

    * I inspected the back/bottom of the monitor and there are two speakers present - that is, there is a speaker present on the left which isn't working.

So this points to a hardware problem with the left speaker just dead on arrival I guess.

Sounds like you have pretty much pinned it down. Go ahead and start a ticket with Acer support so they can get it fixed for you. It might be as simple as a disconnected wire, but more likely the wire got pinched during assembly and will need to be replaced.
