I've just bought the Acer Nitro 5, AN517-54, i7, RTX 3060, 16 GB literally a month ago and it's already overheating causing a bit of lag.

My CPU temperatures while gaming go from 86 degrees and max out at 92 degrees and my GPU goes from 71 degrees and maxes out at 76 degrees with the fans on auto and CoolBoost on, and the power plan set to high performance, with no other apps running in the background, just my game.

On idle when I first turn on my laptop the CPU is about 40 to 49 degrees but when I start using it it maxes out at 68 degrees (not gaming).

The temperatures weren't that high when I first bought it. I don't remember the exact temperatures but I know for a fact that they were always below 60 degrees. My games were actually so smooth and I was so impressed by the performance. Now it's so choppy and lags a bit.

How do I get my low temperatures back and fix the choppy and laggy gameplay without making the graphics of my games lower?

Just for reference :

I haven't changed any hardware or software at all.

I don't even have that many apps. Just 4 games that aren't even big games, only 1 of the 4 games are big (Batman Arkham Knight), so my laptop is basically like brand new. I have no idea why the temperatures have gone higher and why the gameplay isn't smooth anymore.

If anyone needs screenshots or extra information just let me know.

Thank you!

Open NitroSense and make sure coolboost is turned on. Then lptop should also be setting on or preferrably raised about an inch above a hard surface to promote air flow from the bottom vents. I use a grilling rack from a toaster oven to raise mine so as not to block the intake and exhaust vents on the bottom.
