I wouldn't be posting if I haven't exhausted my options. I have a Acer Predator Helios 300 PH315-54-760S and want to upgrade to 32GB RAM and add a 2.5" SSD for additional storage. The RAM upgrade was Crucial RAM 32GB Kit (2x16GB) DDR4 3200MHz CL22 and no issues. The 2.5 SSD is Crucial MX500 2TB 3D NAND SATA 2.5 Inch. I installed it per directions from go.acer.com/hddupgrade. I have built many computers before but those were the old days when you set drives up as slave/master. Computer runs fine until I connect the new SSD. With the new SSD connected the screen and keyboard will light up and do nothing. I was able to get into BIOS but could not find a solution. Any suggestions would be helpful. Need to get this computer functional again with a D: SSD. Thank you for considering my issue.

    Might be a lemon MX500.

With 2.5" SSD disconnected, please post phone photos of the BIOS Information and Main tabs after pressing Ctrl+S in each tab if possible.

This is all I get. I can't click on security or advanced.

Crucial drive is not detected. You either lucked out and got a lemon. Or it's not properly connected to the mainboard.

Well per your advice I posted these with the 2.5 ssd disconnected so it makes sense that it wouldn't show up. I am now getting that double beep while trying to boot with it connected. I will try BIOS with it connected.

Yeah, sorry. I forgot that I was originally assuming that you won't even be able enter the BIOS with it connected. I really need to see the MAIN page after pressing Ctrl+S.

    mine is a Predator Helios 300 PH315-54-760s

    will NOT recognize second ssd

my screenshot would be the same... shows all three slots , but several different makes of gen3-4 SATA/NMVe m.2's will not post even though they work in a USB adapter...

I did the CTRL+s in the bios on the MAIN section and turned OFF the VMD (laptop would not boot) turned it back ON, but no second ssd

what is the EXACT type of ssd that ACER says will work?

ready to return a new $1400 laptop for a $40 ssd

The specsheet NVMEs are shown below. Lower-end WesternDigital Blues & Crucials seem to be more forgiving without much noticeable real-world app performance differences from bleeding edge upper-end stuff. Unless of course the only apps you like to use are unreliable SSD benchmark freeware. 🙂
