A515-55G lDoes it look like the hinge is getting loose or just the outer plastic loosing it's glue?

Cause when I close the laptop,it doesn't close fully perse?The right part of it closes partially cause it appears to be the hinge is loose and not closing fully so I have to press it to close.Its like the bag of the laptop is being ripped off from the screen.The part of the lower besel is also getting loose..Should I be worried?I know my explanation didn't make sense and I'm unable to upload videos to show a detailed look but hopefully this was a frequent issue where others could lend their advice.My laptop is Acer a515 55G.

Hi,

If the laptop opens and closes without any difficulty the damage is only a cosmetic one, so if you like my band-aid treatment, get some strong grey coloured or clear tape and apply.

As far as opening and closing is concerned,I do hear a "click" sound along with a loose shaky screen which I assume is the bezel popping out which causes it.But as far as the right side screen hinge is concerned I'm sure with a little bit of force someone could rip it out compared to the left side if that makes sense.Like I could see the hinge loose?..

You see the bottom left is kinda ripped apart,Inside the hinge is visible,like the thing that attaches the screen to the keyboard,that is loose and shaky compared to the other side where it's sealed tight.Its confusing to put it in words so forgive me.But is this normal judging from your post it seems fairly common for mid range Acer laptops?Would tape fix it temporary?I would take it to a technician but they would charge double for it I'm sure..Please let me know your thoughts.Thanks and God bless👍

No problem, you have to decide whether you want to fix it by yourself or get it done by the technician at a local repair shop, if you can open it up and inspect the damaged parts, I may be able to find the part numbers for you.

I think it's best if I take it to a technician.I tried to apply as much tape as possible to close the gap,it doesn't work much but it's still something.Despite the entire hinge not broken or loose,only a small part of it,A technician would still charge for the entire thing perhaps😅😅🤔.Unfortunately within the last 24 hours it has gotten worse wear clancking sounds are heard whenever I open or close them and it's getting worse to see.I put a pic for reference,it feels like a kid could just rip it open..I put tape but I'll take it to a repair center soon.It would be greatly appreciated if you take a look at the pictures I uploaded and give your thoughts please.Thankyou so much

Yes, it's better to take it to a professional, he may be able to patch it up or replace the broken part.

Just in addition to all the above, as your pics look like its a hinge that has broken away from its top case issue, and the choices that you have are simple. you either replace the hinge\, if the hinge is broken, or reglue a hinge that its base points have broken away from either the top case or the bottom case or replace the whole top or bottom case, whichever the hinge broke away from, and its done as follows:

1. you either use a hot glue stick but not with a hot glue gun, but with getting (if you have?) a hot soldering gun to 500c temp or a small Gas Welding Torch, as the glue has to be very hot and made into soft liquid, to be spread to where the base area where the hinge has broken away from either the top case or the bottom case. As that will glue the hinge properly once the glue cools down,
2. Second and best way is to change the top case, which entails swapping all the top case components that is a much more complicated job but with a top case its much easier than a bottom case.

Btw, I've done this a few times and replacing the top or bottom case (whichever is broken) is the best solution to fixing this problem, so search the web for the below parts numbers and get a new bottom case and either do it yourself (if you have the experience?) or get a tech to do it for you. To get a new bottom case you need to search the web and match either your upper lcd cover that the hinge secures to or the if the bottom case, these are the part numbers.
