Can't disable Secure Boot in UEFIThe laptop model is ES1-533-C2LP.

Hi,

My Aspire ES15 runs Windows 10, but performance is realy bad. I want to install Linux Mint XFCE 21 alongside Windows. Booting from USB install LM iso image first gives message: Problem loading X509 certificate -65.. Then LM icon is presented on the screen and the system freezes.

I would like to try it again when UEFI Secure Boot is disabled. But the only items that I can change in the uefi bios is SYETEM TIME, SYSTEM DATE, SET USER PASSWORD, SET HDD PASSWORD. SECURE BOOT item is not selectable for change .

    @JanBor try to set up the BIOS password first. Then the secure boot can be disabled later on.

    @AnhEZ28 The Bios password is set and entered. Secure boot is not changeable. Apparantly there is supervisor password set. I don't know what it is and how to supply it. Thanks for responding.

    Which model do you have? It should be something like ES1-5xx-xxxx and the full model number is usually on the same sticker as the serial number. Different model have different features, including the BIOS settings, so we can't really answer the question fully without knowing what you have.

    OK, on your model you have to set an admin password in the security tab before you are allowed to modify the secure boot settings. With the password entered you can select an UEFI file as trusted, then boot from that image. The trusted file should be the appropriate .efi on the Mint distribution.

    Only items SYSTEM TIME, SYSTEM DATE, SET USER PASSWORD, SET HDD PASSWORD are highlightable/selectable. I can't select SET SUPERVISOR PASSWORD.

    As mentioned earlier in this sequence, the User Password is set and enterded by entrance in the UEFI.. It seems to me that that there is no way to get to change items like Secure Boot.

    As I said I can't select Set Supervisor Password.

    I reported my problem to Acer support and they advised me to sent in the notebook to repair (80 euros).
