Optane H10 RST software states my hardware is compatable but no 'enable' option Acer Spin 513-53N.

Hello,

I have just purchase an Intel Optane H10 module and installed into my Acer Spin 513-53N.

As far as I can tell I have completed the bios configuration correctly stet 'Intel RST with Optane' as my drive configuration.

New install of W10 pro and installed the RST software but under no conditions can I get the 32Gb Optane section of the memory to show in disk management.

The RST software states my hardware is compatable but there 'enable' function is greyed out.

Can anyone offer a solution.

Other that the 32GB section not showeing the drive does work.

I am confused, the SP513-53N laptops have only one space for a SSD and none for a HDD. That means in order to install an Optane card you would have to remove the SSD? Do you maybe have a different model than the Spin SP513-53N?

Unfortunatly the reinstallation of the RTS software did not work. On reboot after installation I received a blue screen of death and had to revert bios to AHCI to enable boot.

Even with a clean install of 10 pro I received the same.

The WD M.2 NVME previously installed was removed to make way for the H10 optane.

Intel Optane is used with slower normal HDDs to boost the speed, I also don't understand why you want to replace a NVMe SSD with a Intel Optane.

I'm not sure that is correct, it may previously have been a seprate module complimenting a standard HDD but H10 Optane is integral on the NVME SSD. Supposidly

Regardless, the NVME section of the drive works however the Optane section will no activate.

I've set the bios to RST with Optane and with the correct drivers istalled I either get a blue screen on reboot and sad emoji and have to reselect AHCI to sucessfully boot.

Think I'll give up. The Intel drive 'as is' seem far superior to the WD module previoulsly installed. I either have a restriction/fault on the PCI bus somewhere or there's a fault within the Otpane section of the drive.

As it's an ebay 'no returns' purchase and have no other device to try it in, I'll have to leave as is.

Likely the original drive was an NVMe x2 drive, the new hybrid drive is NVMe x4, so twice as fast. The key that got us confused was calling it an Optane drive, when it's actually a hybrid NVMe SSD with Optane built in... A straight Optane card doesn't have a SSD built in, so requires another drive to be connected to.

I was getting to the conclusion the PCIe bus on the motherboard was 3 x 2 not 3 x 4 which would account for the fact it crashes after setup and can only see the NVMe section.

Probably bad the manafacturor of the board has included the option for RST with Optane within the bios when it physicall won't support it. Kind of pointless and very missleading. Would appear I've wasted £45.
