Is anyone else playing spiderman pc? My temps are high 90c+. I added two 120mm fans and almost no change. Tomorrow I'm attempting to install a water cooler. I just wanted to know anyone else's experience.

Get the Win-11 OS up to date first and install the latest Win-11 22H2 update, as this update makes the OS perform at least 10% better and quicker, also update the RTX-3080’s NVidia driver and install the GeForce Experience software and run your games with that software’s settings, then make sure that all the Intel drivers are up to date, by installing the Intel® Driver & Support Assistant and do a scan for all updates and enable the TRIM SSD feature within windows to make your SSD drives perform at their peak performance.

The Predator PO5-640 OEM specs are pretty good for gaming/editing and all upper software usage, also and with your 16GB OEM ram and if its just 1x 16GB memory module, add another ram module to the exact spec of the OEM 1x 16GB memory module (install CPUz to find out the exact specs) as the PO5-640 max total memory is 64GB DDR5 4400 MHz/288-pin DIMM into 4 slots (2 Channels) that will increase your desktops ram to 32GB and run at dual channel, which is the only setup for gaming and editing etc etc as that could also be why your desktop is overworking causing an overheating issues.  As adding a cpu AIO water cooler or a Noctua cpu cooler and better and additional case fans is not the only answers. Try all that first and see how you go?

  • What are the exact specs of your PO5-640? As those temps could be from many issues, yes, an AIO water cooler (could be problematic to fit into this desktops spaces) as most users use the Noctua NH-U9S chromax.black will improve temps but, you could have other issues that cause these high temps besides your cooler like, your gpu, psu, ram and software issues. Give us more info on your system.

Most people here have had their best luck with the Noctua rather than going the water cooled route...

I believe all SKUs of the PO5-640 have memory paired, so if it comes with 16GB it would have two 8GB sticks, if it comes with 32GB it's have two 16GB sticks.

has anyone thought about telling him to put the fans in gaming mode because they do not auto adjust on the 5000 models like him and i have....i think only on the liquid cooled models do the auto adjust..one time i forgot and left mine on auto and yeah the temps went way sky high and i asked level 2 support they do not auto adjust without liquid cooler attached i do believe only the 7000 series has this feature...i got Terminator Resistance that runs at about 55 on my pc and i also just got Days Gone must be more gfx intense because it runs at almost 60...everything else is 50 or less and i have the PO5-640-UB11 with 48 gig of ddr5 4800 MHz ram everything else is stock

Thank you, those are all great options I'll get to them this afternoon. My last question s two dual Channel 16 GB Ram modules better than quad Channel 8 GB Ram?

Do you need to remove the motherboard to install it?

well i added 2x16 from crucial to the 2x8 samsung that came with mine..so i have 48 ..dont ask me why lol but i put the crucial in slots 1 and 3 where the original samsung was then i put the samsung in 2 and 4 and no ya just have to but be careful and slightly bend the memory in the 4th slot if needed and carefully squeeze it in lol...it can be done just take your time and it will go in...now i had 2 of these pcs the first one ended up going back defective the first pc the 4th slot was easier than the 2nd pc...either something was off or the cooler fins were larger because i had to literally bend the samsung stick to get it too drop in the 4th slot on the 2nd one i got sent to me compared to the first one it just fell in place lol so good luck and let us know...and it seems there is no right or wrong with memory be it 2x32 or 4x16 or 4x8 or 2x16 whatever u have use it all....its a great motherboard and seems to work no matter what combo or type you use...im proof of it lol....let me know how it all works out

I tried 2x16 and 2x8 and it slows it down to 2200 correct? Isn't this slow for gaming? Also I was asking about the noctura, to install it do you need to remove the motherboard?

nope in quad mode it reads 2000 mhz in dual band 4400 mhz thats all....same speed etc....i dont know im not replacing the cooler im using the stock one.... the hottest mine gets it 61 degrees C on Days Gone in gaming mode....what model do you have and whats your temps at ? i have the PO5-640-UB11

I did the mark3d benchmark and scores were considerably lower with four sticks of ram. 16x8x16x8

chugzilla Member Posts: 680 Seasoned Specialist WiFi Icon

well i dont have that one...is that free or do you have to pay for it ? and these benchmark tests just drive ya crazy worrying about scores... i test by playing my games and when i had 2x16 it was way slower gaming than 48 at > 16-8-16-8 so to me more memory makes it faster regardless...i have only run user benchmark and cpu-z

There is no quad channel. Four sticks still gives you dual channel, and 2200MHz is 4400MT/s in dual channel mode.

ok well that clears up alot of confusion lol....i honestly dont even know whats the difference between dual and quad... and if it matters or not lol....or having 2 slots filled compared to 4 .....all i do know is that the more memory in my pc.... my games run better and faster and cooler...that i can tell ya ...because i have tried every way lol and since i bought 2x16 from crucial im going to get another 2x16 instead of 2x32 then ide have to sell my 2x16 and not sure if i can or if it matters any...if anyone truly knows this answer ide like to know because upper level 2 acer support has no idea and neither does crucial i have talked to both....and online its very confusing and they say it all depends on the motherboard in pc and it seems like acer gave a great one they just blocked alot of its features and capabilities compared to other ones

As I said earlier, quad channel is something only supported in some older workstations, and requires four matched sticks. Just make sure you put the right memory in your and in matched pairs, and you will be just fine.

@chugzilla So I am thinking about upgrading my DDR5 RAM in the future. The chart on the acer manual is super confusing to me. If I were to purchase 2 x 16gb of crucial DDR5 RAM, can you explain in laymans terms which DIMM slots I would put them in? I am also super worried about damaging either the RAM stick or the CPU component if I try to install in that tricky fourth slot lol. But, I might be brave and be willing to give it a try if all that extra memory helped cool your temps THAT much..

it really doesn't matter .... Ya can put it in the 2 empty slots and call it a day...I only have it in 1 and 3 Cuz i was experimenting with 32 gig 24 gig and 48 gig ... I tried every combination I could lol...and getting a stick of ram in the 4th slot should be easy....I'm on my 2nd pc my first one had a faulty 3070 and on the new one the cooler fins underneath the fan are larger than on the first one...so I actually had to bend the memory stick to get it in compared to the first one lol.... but it went in and works great so don't worry about it..... all Ya do is line it up and gently push it down and over into place anyone can do it... it takes no special skills because I don't have any .....this was my first pc I have ever upgraded the memory on so if I can do it anyone can

So I tried installing 32gb DDR5 crucial RAM (2x16gb) in DIMM slots 1 and 2, and moved the existing 2x8gb Hynix DDR5 RAM into DIMM slots 3 and 4 per the owner's instructions A-B-A-B - 16-8-16-8. But after I did that, it failed to boot. I got this long blaring siren noise. I ended up having to remove the crucal ram sticks from the computer altogether and put the 2x8gb Hynix RAMM back into their original slots (DIMM 1 and 2) in order to get it to boot again. Any idea what could be wrong?
