Laptop model : SF315-52-87R5

Hello, I am facing some issues with my laptop. It won't turn on anymore even though the keyboard lights up. the light on the side also seems to work for indicating if the battery is charged or not.

things that I have tried.

  1. fn + all the display option
  2. connecting to an external display
  3. resetting the battery using the pin hole
  4. letting the battery completely die and then trying it again

I have also taking off the back panel and looked for any noticeable damage, didn't find any. Any suggestion on what to try next? I am comfortable about taking the laptop apart further.

Thanks.

No, POST will fail at the initial ram test, usually giving a looong beep. When you did the battery reset, did you do the full procedure or just press the button? You should disconnect everything with the laptop off, then press and hold the button for 15-30 seconds. Release the button and wait for 15-30 minutes, the plug only the charger back in. Wait for the full battery indication and only then try turning it on. The keyboard light just shows there's power to the motherboard, it comes on even if POST never starts...

I believe I already tried that from when I was looking at other peoples posts. I guess it wouldn't hurt to try it again. I'll let you know.

I tried Billsey's suggestion with the battery to no avail. Still seems to not work. I also tried removing the ram and turning it on and nothing. put the ram back in and still nothing so no sure where to go from here

t might also be the issue with battery, charger or power outlet.  Try to use the charger in a different room on a different power outlet. Try to bypass the surge protector and connect it directly to power outlet.  Try to use an alternative charger if possible.  Try to turn on the computer without the charger and check it ( as long as the battery is not drained out )

Did you get the long beep when you tried to turn it on with the ram removed? If not it's not even trying to initialize the motherboard, which is a pretty major fault. :(
