This has me baffled, I have never come across this scenario before. I am working on an Aspire 7745-7749 I have changed out the hdd to ssd years earlier.

In the bios it sees the ssd hdd as IDE and not sata. I know the hdd wasnt in at the time the photo was taken just trust me that next to the ssd in the bios states IDE.

When its installed running windows 10 it is SLOW AF!!!! even worse than a spinning platter drive. I believe the bios is the latest version but may be corrupted.

I have removed the battery on the mobo twice (battery showing 2.95 volts out of 3 volts) I dont know where to get a trustworthy download to the bios firmware in case the current one is corrupt.

any help from the community would be appreciated.

just a side note that when swapped hdds years ago the laptop was super fast comparatively. I have tried using different SSDs hard drives to try and isolate the trouble.

If this is a controller, capacitor problem somewhere in the MOBO then it becomes out of my paygrade.
