I bought an Acer Aspire A515-56 in 2021 october from Amazon India . The product I initially got was damaged and I got it replaced. The model I bought was 8 gb ram+ 1 Tb HDD model.

After updating to windows 11 the laptop start hanging so I added a 250 Gb ssd and 20 gb ram to it.But I was not getting the expected performance.

In 2022 March I moved to Germany for my studies.

After 6 months of usage the laptop stated showing problems like black screen automatic repair loop and suddenly obe day it was not detecting the bootable device.

I contacted the Acer germany customer care as the product is still under international warrenty. As per their request I send the product to service center and after analysing they replied like since I added ssd not from acer caused this issue and they are charging me 150 Euros for SSD change.

I don't understand how using another brands SSD cause such a problem.Even after SSD change I used it for more than 8 months.

Can anyone suggest me how to deal with it. The customer service replied like without pay ,they won't repair it.

Payment is 89 euro for ssd + 33 euro for labor+tax=150 euro.

Sorry, you have posted to an Acer users forum. We are not Acer employees or customer service representatives. Typically you must arrange warranty repair service in the country or region where the laptop was purchased. AFAIK, the international warranty is only applies to travellers, not applicable moves or relocations from one country to another.

  • I would like to know if the bios is recognizing the ssd, in the info tab. Can you send a picture of the bios info tab?

I think Acer-Germany already replaced the SSD and charged €150.

It is very expensive value to just replace an ssd. If the laptop had been mine, I would have checked that the ssd showed up in the bios info tab, and I would have tested the ssd on another computer.
