Error 4101, Display driver igfx stopped responding Acer a515-54G

I have an Acer a515-54G and get the 4101 error: "Display driver igfx stopped responding and has successfully recovered" after the August 25 W11 updates. Not sure if my intel driver set from ACER "VGA_Intel_26.20.100.6911_W11x64_(UMA)" dated 2019 by Device Mngr is still compatible with the latest W11 update as I have not seen this error in the 3 years I am using this latop. The 4101 error has been reported on many forums since 2016 (W10). I uninstalled the Intel gpu drivers with latest version DDU in Safe Mode and reinstalled the same gpu driver package that I just downloaded from ACER Support site but get the same 4101 error.

Anyone can help?

4101 warning is back again (Display driver igfx stopped responding) sooo it is not Intel's display versions causing this error in Windows 11 22H2 (never had it in W10 or W11 22H1) as I get the error with Intel's 2019 as well as 2022 (July) display versions. IMO it is an Acer a515-54G hardware issue and W11 20H2 graphics settings: When I turn off GPU acceleration (see attached)

I don't seem to get this 4101 error (till now). The error sometimes shows in Event Viewer (System), sometimes as a Kernel HW problem in Maintenance-Reliability History-Problem reports☹️

That Intel graphics driver version 26.20.100.6911_W11x64 is way out of date and it should be updated and so should all your Intel drivers, best is to install the Intel® Driver & Support Assistant and run a scan your system. After and with the 4101-error use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller from Guru3D.com) to completely uninstall obsolete NVidia previous drivers with the checkbox ticked (to stop Microsoft driver updates), then install the latest Win-11 NVidia drivers for your gpu and only install NVidia drivers from NVidia and not Microsoft Updates. With MS updates don't allow updates to be automatically installed and whenever you get a NVidia driver for your gpu "Hide the Update" or its best to use the Windows Update MiniTool 22.04.2022 which is an alternative to the standard Windows Update; it puts you in control of updates by allowing you to search, install, and block Windows updates as you please. This is the best way to fix the 4101-error.

For the past few days I've been experiencing disconnecting and reconnecting by displayport from my external monitor. It almost looks like as if I unplugged the displayport cable from my laptop and plugged it back in. However, sometimes it shows up in Event Viewer as event ID 4101: Display driver igfx stopped respond and has successfully recovered, or not at all. When this happens, Discord detects that I have a "new audio output" (probably my laptop's Intel audio), but I haven't done anything to my cable where it could've been damaged.

Also, the graphics driver doesn't "crash". I was playing a game yesterday, and it didn't crash, only the screen turned black, turned back on, and I saw the displayport logo on my monitor (like when you switch monitor sources). The game resumed normally.

Like I said before, sometimes this gets logged in Event Viewer, sometimes I race to the logs and I find nothing there. I tried looking at the time the Intel graphics stopped working, but found nothing that could've affected igfx. The only logs I saw at the time was a new logon and my laptop's touchpad started up again.

So far, I've done the following:

sfc /scannow
DISM RestoreHealth
Updated Nvidia graphics
Made sure battery was on performance, no hybrid sleep mode, 100% CPU, etc.
Updated Intel graphics through device manager, then found a newer generic one online, and installed it. (I have rolled back to the device manager one since).
Disabled thermal throttling with Throttlestop (I did this more than a year ago)

Here's my specs:

Windows 10

i7-8750H

GTX 1060 6GB mobile

16 GB RAM

Acer Xb241h, 1080p 144hz gsync display (external monitor) with displayport 1.3

This happens about twice per day, and can be while I'm doing anything. It happened when I was playing a game (which utilized Nvidia gfx), but didn't crash the game. Maybe I'm not looking deep enough into logs? How would I go about fixing this, even after rolling back / updating GFX drivers?

I know where you' are coming from StevenGen and I just downloaded Intel's latest gfx_win_101.3413_101.2111.exe gpu driver for my MOBO. But I want to do this step-by step: Someone suggested to turn off Fast Startup and Battery Saver power plan, so I try that for a couple of days, then if still the error I will uninstall the old Intel gpu driver with the latest DDU in Safe Mode and Install the new Intel driver. If all that fails I will look at the remaining Intel drivers (like CPU) or I may decide to ignore the error and turn off the Event Error channel and save for a newer laptop.

Well, the error 4101 came back after 1 day, I bit the bullet and installed the new Intel GPU driver (see above):

No more MEIx64 Event Codes 1,3 and 4 to be written to the System Event Log (this slowed down my booting a lot)

and

No more System error 4101 "Display driver igfx stopped responding and has successfully recovered."

RAPR (Driver Store Explorer) found 12 old (duplicates) .inf files that I deleted.

Thus far no issues, Device manager still reports the old OEM VGA package from 2019 for some unknow reason but the driver details are correct (2022)

Found a duplicate iigd_dch.inf file from 2019 still in the driver store, both DDU and RAPR where unable to delete this file and that is why Device Manager was not reporting the 2022 Intel driver I had installed. Forced deleted the old .inf file with RAPR in Safe Mode and all is well now (see attached)

I have the same issue with the Acer Aspire AiO C24-963 model. The igfx driver quits and the screen will flicker. This happens especially when I attempt to use the front facing camera. I have attempted to change the settings mentioned above and still the problem persists. I agree with the idea that the graphics chip or driver is the issue and not with the Windows software. I have rebuilt the computer with Windows 10 and Windows 11 in both occasions the screen still flickers. Windows 10 initially will be stable after installed without allowing windows update to install any new updates or drivers, but after using the drivers from the Acer website the problem comes back. Which leads me to think that the driver is the issue.
