I am having an issue trying to add a 1TB PCLe to my Swift SF314-59. I never see any listed on Ebay or Amazon with more that 512GB. Is this the limit of the mother board? It can be read via external USB-c, but not read when inserted internally. Thanks Steve

Very nice chart, it does not state from Acer and where does it list my model? Has anybody had any actual usage of anything above 512 GB on the Swift SF314-59? Thank you, Steve

  • Hi! This model supports 1tb or higher nvme ssds:

Can you send a picture of the bios info tab? The ssd should probably be showing up in the bios.

That snippet is from the Service Guide for your SF314-59 and shows some of the drive models shipped within the model series. There is no limit on the drive size other than your budget and the technology available. Your system supports NVMe drives in the M.2 slot but may not support SATA. What do you see when you have the drive installed? Have you cloned the old drive to the new one? Can you post pictures of your BIOS settings (blank out your serial numbers)?

    Billsey,

I want to take the time to thank you and egydiocoelho for all your information. My unit has one M.2 PCIe x4 Gen 3 slot, so I have ordered a new Crucial P3 1TB PCLe SSD that will arrive on Monday that is to those M.2 PCIe x4 Gen 3 speciation's.

I will use the Acronis True Image software that Crucial recommends (and that I have used before ) to clone my existing drive and try and install using the 1TB PCLe. I will do an update by Tuesday evening with my hopefully happy success story for you to see.

BTW... PCLe isn't the correct term. PCIe (I for Interface, not L for Lost) is the interface spec, M.2 defines the physical slot, NVMe defines the protocols used over the interface. PCIe and M.2 SSDs can be SATA or NVMe, if NVMe they can be x2 or x4. As you know your system is NVMe x4, the faster of the three protocols.

Oh my, you are correct. 2 of the 4 times I made a reference in that last post were incorrect. So much for cut and paste in a late night post. Thank you so much for pointing it out to me, consider my hand slapped. At least I got the x4 right so someone in the know would know I was referring to a NVMe. 🙄

I am happy to report that I had no issue installing the 1 TB NVMe m.2 card upgrade to my system. I think the original issue may have been caused because the unit I purchased had been upgraded to windows 11 and the cloned drive I was trying to install was cloned from my prior computer which was a windows 10 version. I'm sure someone will jump in and explain or correct me, lol. Have a great day.😊
