Power plugged in, power on PC, charging light solid blue. THe moment it reaches Windows 10 login screen, the charging light turns to slow blinking orange. After login, Windows show it is running on battery. I need to unplug and plug back in, and it will turn into solid blue light again.

HOWEVER, if I start the PC when it is NOT plugged in, login into Windows 10, then plug in the power, the charging light will stay solid blue, and never change to blinking orange.

It seems that somehow when plugged and booting, the moment it reach the Windows login screen, it will immediately not detect the charger.

I have done the 5 second pinhole reset, the issue persists. Battery is NOT removable.

    1. Open Control Panel. Search 'button'.
    2. Click 'change what the power buttons do' in left pane.
    3. Click 'change settings that are currently unavailable' near top of next pane.
    4. Scroll down and UNcheck box for fast startup. Save setting
    5. Open Device Manager
    6. Expand batteries folder
    7. Right click and uninstall ALL drivers you find in the batteries folder
    8. Exit Device Manager
    9. Shutdown Windows normally
    10. Wait for battery charge LED to turn steady blue again
    11. Then turn the machine back on.
    12. You may have to shutdown Windows normally one more time to take effect..

There's no checkbox for "fast startup".

Looks like "fast startup" is not showing b/c hibernation is turned off.

I then removed all drivers under batteries, and shut down.

Several minutes later, it is still blinking orange.

So I finally unplugged and replugged back in, now is solid orange (charging). Boot up, upon reaching Win10 login page, it changes to blinking orange again.

Logged in, the battery drivers are auto installed:

    It is still blinking orange.

So far so good except for the solid orange instead of waiting for solid blue before turning it on.

    1. Uninstall ALL the battery drivers again. Exit Device Manager
    2. Shutdown Windows normally
    3. Wait for battery charge LED to turn steady blue again. This may take up to 24 hours if the battery is salvageable
    4. Then turn the machine back on.
    5. You may have to shutdown Windows normally one more time to take effect..

"This may take up to 24 hours if the battery is salvageable".

The battery is good. While I've never tested the actual run time, but I am sure it still runs for over an hr on battery. Windows usually show me over 2 hours.

I checked the battery capacity (powercfg /batteryreport.), and on full charge, it is about 10% lower than the original amount.

Yes, I understand. But please wait for battery charge LED to turn steady blue BEFORE trying turn the machine back on again anyway.

    3 FULL days later.

2 lights, one solid orange, one solid blue. BOTH flashes on for 5 to 6 seconds, then off for 5 to 6 seconds, repeating. Both flashes at the same time.

Please re-check full model series number. Is it perhaps A514- or A515-51G?

    Sorry, it is A515-51G-5504.

Not sure why I entered A513 when I created the post. I don't see any way to edit the thread title.

If battery LED shown below is always orange or flashing orange (but never blue or flashing blue), the battery has likely failed or a shorted cell.

I do not think the battery has failed though. It still holds charge and I can run on battery power for over hr.

Also, the blinking goes away the moment I unplugged/replugged after it is logged into winsows.

The battery report also doesn't have any indication that the battery is bad.

A bad cell in the battery will often still allow it to work, for a shorter amount of time and at a lower voltage than spec.

The battery also has it's own internal charge controller and monitor. if it detects an problem with one or more battery cells, it will signalo the mainboard to issue a blinking orange warning light. Sometimes the Windows battery icon in the tray will also show a small yellow warning symbol that suggests the battery should be replaced.

The blinking orange and warning symbols are there to help avoid a battery fire or explosion. If it was mine, I'd heed the warning. Google the keywords A515-51G & battery for vendors who ship new replacement battery packs to your locations if you decide it also might be worth a try. About $35usd.

but why would it ONLY flash on login page? That's the weird part. Then after replugging it in, it will never flash again.

    >>>Then after replugging it>>>

Windows detected an internal failure signal from the battery controller on startup. Then Windows issues the flashing LED failure alert that charger current has been blocked. The flashing would likely continue if you hadn't pulled the plug which likely interrupts the startup alert process. As far as the battery controller is concerned, it has already issued the startup failure alert and doesn't issue another. After a while, unplugging the charger probably won't stop the flashing LED after startup and it won't charge anymore. Hopefully, the risks involved in continuing to use this battery until then won't happen. Good luck.
