Hello! Last August 26, 2022, I took my Acer Aspire A314-22 to the technician. The technician advised disconnecting the battery because it bloated, and since I don't have enough funds to purchase a replacement, he assured me that I could still use it by simply plugging it in, which is perfectly alright. My charger, however, was also found to be broken. This time, I will definitely buy a replacement. I need it for my laptop to function.

Today, though, I think both the USB ports and the power adapter port have issues. The charger doesn't charge quickly when I plug it in; I have to unplug it and replug it before it turns on. Every time I connect my mouse or keyboard to the USB ports, it automatically disconnects and reconnects itself.

Genuine question: Can I bring my laptop back to the technician and request to change the ports on it? If they change it, do I have to pay for it or is it still covered by the parts warranty?

If you purchased this Acer Aspire A314-2 on the 21st of October 2020 this laptop has an Acer 1-year warranty and not an Acer 2-year warranty! So, your laptop is out of warranty. Unless you have another extended warranty insurance that you took out at time of purchase then, check with your insurance and with who you have this warranty with and take it to their preferred technician?

Your laptop has 1x USB v2.0 port on the right side and 2x USB v3.0 ports on the left side of the laptop. USB ports can be changed and resoldered with new USB ports (but why don't you use the other ports and use the laptops keyboard instead of an external keyboard?) as replacing a USN port is not cheap and could cost you about as much as a new refurbished eBay battery, as most that are sold are not new and are refurbished on eBay from China).

Best is to first try and see if the internal USB ports pins can be bent back or fixed so that they make 100% contact with your inserted USB mouse and keyboard plugs, as that could be all that is wrong with these USB laptop ports? If the USB ports solder has broken internally from the motherboard connection? Then you need a tech to resolder it that has the proper tools, don't attempt to do this job if you don't have the proper tools as it's a specialist job.
