I need to reset my password on my old Acer Aspire 5253.

I forgot the password the my laptop computer. I did not create any rescue disk of that sort, nor did I write the password down. It's been years since I tried to enter what password I may have installed on it way back when. I've entered ever variable I know that would be close to the last password I had installed on it. I saw that Acer can provide me with a password reset. Howevever, I am unable to access the laptop withouentering the password. I went to Acer's website, and saw that a password reset can be issued to me. However, I go online using my HP desktop computer to get to Acer's website so that I can request a reset (or reset code or whatever it is I request to reset the password for my laptop computer, I'm thinking the laptop is what suppose to be getting and saving the download to reset my password. Am I right? or do I ;proceed with the instructions and disregard that I am not on the Acer laptop with I request the password to be reset. Please let me know.

Which password are you taking about? Is it the windows or the bios set HDD passwords? If its the change windows password like shown below then you have to do it on the Acer 5253 laptop. If its a bios password then we can't advise you on that as its a totally different method that the community rules don't allow members to give any instructions on.
