Acer Swift 7 overheats, expands, breaks case

I bought this laptop in January, 2019. As it aged I saw that it no longer sat flat on the desktop. It rocked a little. I installed a core temp reader. Rarely did it register too hot or feel too warm except for 2 or 3 times. Now at 3+ years of age the case has broken away from the inside elements and laptop rocks like a rocking horse! The screws remain in their holes but the back of the case separated and broke through the holding screws. The laptop however still works!

I am in the market for a new computer. I hesitate to buy another Swift as it seems not to be adequately ventilated. Anyone else have this problem?

The battery pack is probably causing the swelling, not heat. It should be replaced as soon as possible to prevent fire hazard.

You are right! I opened the back casing and sure enough, the battery is very swollen. But I can't find the same voltage. I find the same battery but only 15.4V instead of 17.6 which seems to no longer be available. Can I use the 15.4V? This is now a secondary laptop, not used every day. If it will work on 15.4V I will buy it and install it.

Thank so much for the good advice.😀

We need to know the full model number for the Swift 7, it should be something like SF7xx-xxx-xxxx and is printed on the same sticker as your SN and SNID. From that we can look up the correct battery...

Google search your full Swift 7 model number (For example SF714-51T) & battery for vendors who ship replacement batteries to your location
