Hi, I have an aspire 7 A715-74g its been a while i have encountered this problem,

When I try to boot bios using F2 key while power up, a blank page with a non-flashing underscore shows up, this problem started after I dual-booted my device with win-10 on ssd and centos 8 stream on hdd, I have no problems reaching the boot menu and I have upgraded and reinstalled both of the OS s successfully after this problem has happened, the non-flashing underscore; I believe, is the result of system not finding the proper disk?!

I already have updated the bios (v1. 29) so repair through update is not an option

I have tried booting bios using both windows advanced options and centos system setup methods but no luck so far, the problem isn't urgent yet in my mind but i would really appreciate any help to fix it. Thanks beforehand.

You have either a frozen bios or a frozen Super IO chip that need resetting or at worst case one of these chips are damaged? As the super IO chip is the heart of the laptop and if its damaged or corrupted as this chip is a programed chip like the bios chip is also, then both of these chips if either damaged or corrupted will give you those symptoms that you have.

The best first option is to take the main battery out and the bios battery out (see captions below) and leave them both disconnected for 15 min and then reconnect both batteries, also take the ram out and clean all their pins and plugs and reconnect and make sure that the ram is plugged in properly, then try to boot your laptop up and try to get into the bios using the windows advanced options. See if all that works as and if it doesn't, then you need to get your laptop diagnosed by an experienced tech that has all the tools and can fix these chip issues and/or any other issues why your laptop doesn't boot into bios. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

    Thank you for your response,

I'll try disconnecting the batteries, if it didn't work i think i shouldn't bother much?! I dont have any problems using the laptop and the performance is absolutely fine , this is my work/study system and I don't want to risk damaging it if this problem isn't going to grow in a major problem.
