Please post a phone photo of the BIOS INFORMATION tab or page without the PNY if possible. Are HDD0 & HDD1 occupied in optane raid configurations?.

OK. The unoccupied m.2 socket might be SATA speed only. This might cause issues with some but not all NVME cards. While NVMEs should be backward compatible, some just aren't. The other possible issue is the SATA mode especially if it's Optane with raid or VMD instead of AHCI. Please post phone photo of BIOS Information tab if possible.

As for the battery issue, check to make sure its connector to the mainboard is seated properly. Also the bottom cover must be fully engaged and aligned properly with screws tightened just in case your mainboard is equipped with a safety interlock switch. This switch cuts battery power to the mainboard if the bottom cover is loose, misaligned, or removed.

  • Try this procedure:

    a) enable safe boot via msconfig:

    b) then disable fast startup and restart windows:

    c) then go to bios main tab, press ctrl+s and change sata mode to ahci and press f10 to save and exit:

    d) now, windows will start by safe boot and then turn off the computer.

    e) disassemble the computer, disconnect the lithium battery and then connect the new ssd:

    f) connect the lithium battery and turn on the computer!

PNY is the manufacturer of the XLR8 4tb NVMe. I also wanted you to post a phone photo of the BIOS Information tab.

As mentioned earlier, the unoccupied m.2 socket might be SATA speed only. This might cause issues with some but not all NVME cards. While NVMEs should be backward compatible, some just aren't and it may be the case with the PNY. The other possible issue is the SATA mode especially if it's Optane with raid or VMD instead of AHCI. Please post phone photo of BIOS Information tab if possible.

As for the battery issue, check to make sure its connector to the mainboard is seated properly.
