edited October 2023 in Predator Laptops
My new laptop is overheating playing old games from 2005 (Oblivion). Cpu hit 99 degrees C. In predator sense. Laptop is on a tray with the back lifted so the fans can intake. I'm gonna redo the thermal paste and pads. My question is how thick of pads do I need for my laptop and what's the best thermal paste to use?

Always disconnect the lithium battery and wear an anti-static wrist strap.

You should not try to do this if it's still under warranty. This will likely void the warranty. The machine is too new to have the thermal paste dry out so soon. Accordingly the thermal heat ducts may be clogged or have leaked coolant.

If only a few weeks old, you should try to return it to the vendor as defective for a refund or exchange before the vendor's return merchandise authorization (RMA) period ends. If beyond the RMA period, then click this link.  choose your country. Click the support link near top of country webpage. Enter your machine's serial number id (SNID). Then arrange for warranty repair due to overheating.
