so i was just playing valorant on my laptop and i accidentally press the sleep button but when i tried to login back with my fingerprint again it's just not working. When i checked the event viewer on my windows 11 i found something weird

The device driver for the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) encountered a non-recoverable error in the TPM hardware, which prevents TPM services (such as data encryption) from being used. For further help, please contact the computer manufacturer.
Event ID:14

I need to restart the laptop then it started working again

Device: Acer Swift X (SFX 14-41G)

  • There might have been a bug. Is tpm enabled in the bios?

Restarting or cold booting is the first thing to try when weird things happen after accidentally pressing the wrong  buttons.  Congratulations! Like a BIOS chip, sounds like nothing is wrong with the TPM chip when power is turned off and on again.  :)

Open Control Panel. Search 'button'. Click 'change what the power buttons do' in left pane. Click 'change settings that are currently unavailable' near top of the next pane. Scroll down and UNcheck the box for fast startup. Shut down Windows normally. Then turn it back on and immediately tap F2 key to enter BIOS menu. Enable TPM if disabled. Then press F10 to save settings and exit. !!!!Do NOT try to force machine to sleep while playing games by pressing sleep button!!!.

i mean it doesnt matter what game do you play when you sleep you still can log in back with fingerprint but only valorant does this

Still, it's generally not a good idea to try to force sleep mode while the GPU and CPU are relatively active and consuming power while playing any game or running a demanding video application. Why do you want to continue force the system to do this? Are you trying to see how many times you can do this before corrupting the BIOS or maybe bricking the machine?

It sounds to me like it's a bug in the game... Have you contacted them about it yet?

  • This is not a hardware issue. Just don't suspend windows when you're playing.

The solution is simple. Don't accidentally, unintentionally or intentionally press the sleep button while playing valorant or any other game.

As @egydiocoelho suggested, you don't have a hardware issue. Your have a valorant software issue. I suggest that you uninstall any valorant associated software that is running during startup and in the background even when not playing valorant (check Task Manager Startup tab). Then download and reinstall whatever valorant software is needed to run the game.

I've reinstalled valorant for 5th times now i checked the tpm.msc using run it failed to read the tpm even when i check the security processor it said i didnt have tpm ready. I've tried contacting valorant with no luck

I suspect that the Valorant software is disabling the trusted platform module because it won't run properly with TPM enabled. Thus I wouldn't trust running valorant on my machines if that was true.

Win11 only requires TPM2 hardware module to be on the mainboard whether it's enabled or disabled. It's enabled by default. Win11 & the other games leave it enabled by default. Only Valorant seems to be disabling it. Accordingly, your TPM2 hardware seems fine. But Valorant software doesn't seem fine. .
