Thermal pad under the M2 SSD

Hi! I have a question, maybe a stupid one, but I need to be sure. So, I opened up my Nitro 5 AN 515-52 (2018) and I've seen under the M2 SSD a thermal pad (it's between motherboard and SSD). It's okay to be there and not on top of the SSD? The laptop has been in service two times and one time because of the SSD, had to replace it!

The pad is a heat shield under the SSD for components on the other side of board, not an SSD cooler. An SSD cooler is either an aluminum or copper foil on top of the SSD. Most SSDs don't need the foil on top.
