Hi everyone, thanks for any help you can give me. I searched and saw a few people w/ this problem but no answers that seemed to have worked so I'll try again just in case someone new has joined who might have an answer.
--Bought this Swift SF314-42 just over a year ago. Warranty now kaput (of course).
--About 3 months ago it started freezing up randomly when using internet. I tried diagnostics and troubleshooters on Windows 10; said everything is fine. Tried emptying cache; doesn't make a difference. I'm not running games or other unusually greedy or odd software. It still does this and is very annoying.
--About 2 months ago, after an update on Windows 10, the built-in microphone AMD array just stopped working. First noticed it in Zoom, but tested it on computer itself and using an online microphone tester and it doesn't work.
--Internal and external speakers work fine for output.
--I desperately need it to work as I tutor student remotely.
--For a while, I could use my external headset (old-fashioned; plugs into jack) and the mic and speakers worked fine.
--Last week even that stopped working.
--Then the internal mic started working again for a couple days; now neither external nor internal mic is working.
--I have spent all day today w/ Windows chat support; they looked at and updated every conceivable driver and setting, ran diagnostics and trouble shooters; nothing works.
--Computer detects the mic and says it's working and ready to use. It just isn't detecting sound.
--They had me run a 1.5 hour program to repair corrupt files; nothing changed.
--I hate Acer.
