Note: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, also known as "Stop: 0x0000000A, stop 0A or 0x0000000A", is the blue screen of death as depicted through the error code. It usually arises because some kernel-mode process or driver has attempted to ingress in a memory address that won’t be able to complete their access. Users must note that the IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error can arise while working on Windows 10, 8, 7, or even any version of Windows Vista.  What makes this error really frustrating for the users is that the computer happens to have an issue with some files, and alongside, they aren’t able to identify the file that is causing the error in the first place. Therefore, the onus lies with the user to detect the file that is causing the problem.

Have a look at the solutions of how to fix IRQL_NOT LESS OR EQUAL as that will fix this problem for you but, you can start by turning off your laptop and taking the back cover off and disconnecting the main battery and the bios battery out and leaving them disconnected for about 15min then reconnect both batteries and fire the laptop up, as it could be that you have a frozen bios that needs resetting due to the bios update and this will reset the bios and make your laptop boot properly. You are lucky as it seems that the bios flash was successful and hasn't bricked your laptop but must have frozen the bios or Super IO, so read the guides on Methods to Fix IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL Error or other guides and do their suggested fix that is appropriate to your laptop.

    (1) Press and hold power button till laptop shuts off.
    (2) Unplug charger.
    (3) Press and hold power button again for about 10 seconds
    (4) Plug charger back in.
    (5) Wait for battery charge LED to turn from steady orange to steady blue
    (6) After battery charge LED turns steady blue, try to turn the laptop on again

    Try this
    (1) Press and hold power button till laptop shuts off again
    (2) Turn it back on and IMMEDIATELY press and hold the ALT key while tapping the F10 key.
    (3) A recovery menu should appear.
    (4) Go to the troublshooting or advanced section of the menu. We need to try to get to the command prompt and repair the file system.

Report back if you're able to get to the recovery menu. We'll proceed from there.

i already make this and nothing happens.. never show us the recovery screen..

As additional data, try to boot the laptop with a Linux Live USB and Secure Boot disabled and when executing it, it gives the following error:

[79648.067306] BUG: unable to handle page fault for address: 0000000004000034
[79648.067315] #PF: supervisor read access in kernel mode

  • You have to press alt+f10 quickly, before the acer logo. But this feature will not work if d2drecovery is disabled in bios or if you have formatted hard drive.

Yes, I know... I haven't formatted the HDD and when doing alt + f10 the message "please wait" appears but it restarts again without showing the recovery screen

No, the laptop has never been altered with its factory values, it has been kept with its original windows, I tried to do the linux issue now to see if it started without problem but it didn't work.

OK. Sometimes this ALT+F10 process must be repeated at least 3 times if the boot disk hasn't been corrupted or physically damaged or has bad connections to mainboard. So try it twice more.

    (1) Press and hold power button till laptop shuts off again
    (2) Turn it back on and IMMEDIATELY press and hold the ALT key while tapping the F10 key.
    (3) A recovery menu should appear.
    (4) Go to the troubleshooting or advanced section of the menu. We need to try to get to the command prompt and repair the file system from a USB boot stick if the drive hasn't been damaged and has good connections.

I have tried several times and what seems strange to me is that the error it shows is random, look at the images for the "stop code"

And others code like = "Critical Service Failed" or "Critical Process Died" or "0xc000021a"... and others..

This could be "ram memory" ???

Possible since it's random.  :) Pull one if you have two sodimms installed?

  • Do you have a way to disconnect the lithium battery and then disconnect all devices? It would be interesting to test each device individually until you find which one is having problems.

Yes, I can do it, but in what order do you suggest? As additional information, yesterday I changed the thermal paste to see if it was an overheating issue... but it's still the same...

I agree. Order doesn't matter at this point. Just disconnect one at a time, Covers must be re-assembled for each test though.
