Good day.
I currently have an acer nitro 5 an515-55-59ar that came with a 8GB DDR4 Sk Hynix 3200mhz pre-installed. I would like to upgrade it to 16GB, but I'm bit on a budget so was trying to get the exact same ram currently in my system, yet no where in south africa has it, even contacted acer support and was directed to their spare parts supplier and was told the part is discontinued.
I found a Crucial 8GB DDR4 3200 MHz SO-DIMM Single Ranked Module and both ram sticks seem exactly the same, same timings and same voltage the only difference I could find is that the Sk Hynix has 8 chips on the ram stick while the Crucial has 16. Would I be able to use the Crucial together with the Sk Hynix ram in the acer laptop or would it cause problems?

Would appreciate any help in this issue

Should be fine. If you haven't done so already, run the Crucial scanner on your system just to be sure. Crucial is a topshelf  vendor with sodimms usually made by Micron also topshelf.

Just as additional info for you as I've done the same with my Nitro 5 AN515-56 and this is what worked for me. First install CPUz and look at the "SPD Slot# 1" specs of this software and get the exact Part Number and specs of your OEM 1x 8GB ram is, if its a DDR4-3200 CL24 it should be the same as mine which in has a "P/N: HMA81GS6DJR8N-XN" which is what I looked up on the web and eBay had the same ram with the same part number that was an SK Hynix 8GB PC4-3200AA DDR4 SODIMM Memory P/N: HMA81GS6DJR8N-XN, this is what my CPUz SPD slot 1 and 5 combined specs are so you should install CPUz and take the your OEM ram of the 1x 8GB and match it to the same. The below captions shows the OEM ram from my AN515-56 in CPUz so look at the same section as a reference of what to buy from eBay or from anywhere that can match the OEM ram as that is the best and that is to have the same timing/manufacturer spec ram and it will also give you
Dual Channel ram which is best for gaming and editing.

Slot#1 shows OEM specs as it came from Acer fro my AN515-56

Slot#5 shows my addition and upgrade of the same ram bought from eBay

CPUz memory section showing Dual Channel compared to single channel when only 1x ram stick is fitted.

Good day, I have already ran the Crucial scanner - the Crucial ram is compatible with my system. Just wanted to make sure that it wont cause issues with my current installed ram, since they 2 different brands

Good day, I ran CPUz - the current ram is just as yours. I never bought from ebay before and by the time it comes will be a bit late. The Crucial Ram has the same timings only different manufactures and has 16 chips while the sk hynix has 8 chips on the ram stick. That's why was wondering if they can work together without any issues... will be cheaper, faster and better warranty on the stick.
