At first I had to hold to cable in a position so the laptop would charge, the charging port was probaby loose. Later it became difficult to get charger plug into the laptop port, I had to use a bit of force but it charged without problems when it was in. Last time I did it, spark came out of the port with a soft 'explosion' sound, since then the laptop doesn't work/charge.

Is it necessary to change the whole motherboard or just the charging port/DC jack?

Maybe. Maybe not. Look inside the laptop charger jack with a flashlight. It should look like the image below.

    (1)  Is the center pin contact straight and in the middle of the jack?
    (2) Are the slider contacts on the sides of the jack visible?

Yes, they seem to be in the middle of the jack. These are the best pictures I could take.

    Thanks

Looks to me like broken piece of metal is jammed up against and shorting the center pin contact with the side slider contacts. Better try to fish that out of there if possible. It might actually be what's left of a bent slider contact that's jammed against the center pin. Maybe it can be pushed back toward the side with a toothpick. The internal battery really should be disconnected while poking around in there.

And unfortunately the DC-In jack is soldered to the motherboard. No easy fix if the jack has been damaged, find a decent tech with surface mount soldering skills for the repair.
