Hello, I was using my laptop yesterday when I started experiencing screen flickering. This morning, I opened my laptop but it was black screen. The laptop was working but the screen stays black. I tried restarting continously and nothing happened. Sometimes I get to open it but it is flickering badly. I tried another restart then it became black once again. What should I do? I have work to do and this kept persisting.

  • What is the exact model? Example AN515-55-58VH. Can you record a video of the problem?

It is a aspire a314-22, fortunately i fixed it by reinstalling graphic driver in safe mode when I was able to open it again. Although, there is a slight flickering still albeit small one. I hope there is none tomorrow.

    >>>there is a slight flickering still>>>

Does HDMI out to a TV screen still show slight flickering too?

Without an HDMI cable, we can only assume that it's not the GPU. Which leaves the LCD screen video cable breaks and/or dirty connectors or the screen itself as a cause. Either way, the bottom cover must be removed and battery pack disconnected in order to access the cable and try to reseat its connectors at the mainboard and base of the screen to help clean its contacts.  Google search keyword A314-22 disassembly for a youtube video on what's involved in removing the bottom cover.

I think it must be dirty. This laptop was stored for about a month without usage, and I definitely didn't break anything about it nor the LCD screen is broken. Thank you for your answer, I will comeback if the issue is not fixed.

By break I mean the wires or conductors inside the video cable or ribbon.  They are sometimes damaged in the hinge area from opening and losing the lid too much. New replacement video cables part no. 50.HVVN7.005 are fairly inexpensive, less than $20usd.
