Realtek sound driver issue

I discovered I had no sound on my laptop two days ago. I saw “no audio device installed” each time I hovered over the sound icon.

I updated the Realtek driver via Device Manager, but this didn’t fix the issue.

Then I decided to uninstall the audio driver and restart, but accidentally deleted. A technical support phone agent advised me to download the driver from the Acer website and install. No joy. She said factory reset is the only option. I’ve done this twice now, but the drivers have not been restored.

What do I do now? Any advise would be much appreciated.

It might help if you could reveal your ACER model number? For example, A515-54g? Meanwhile try this. Press FN+F8 to try to toggle sound back on. If nothing then follow these steps

    (1) Open Control Panel. Click 'change what power buttons do' in left pane
    (2) Click 'change settings that are currently unavailable' near the top of the next pane
    (3) Scroll down and UNcheck the box for fast startup
    (4) Shut down Windows normally
    (5) Unplug charger. Gently insert and press paperclip into battery disconnect pinhole on bottom for about a minute
    (6) Plug charger back in but wait for battery charge LED to turn from solid orange to solid blue
    (7) After turning solid blue, turn laptop on again
    (8) Test sound. If no sound, press FN+F8 to toggle sound on
