hello, I have ACER Nitro 5 an515-53, and am on Windows 11 64-bit.
So I just upgraded my Bios without any back round knowledge on what I was doing and messed up my comp. There are two potential reasons why I think this happened.
Potential Problem 1: So before upgrading my bios, I recently downloaded an older version of Intel Extreme Tuning Utility so that way I can throttle turbo boost from I think 50watts to 18watts, I believe it was. So that my CPU temps can average at about 70-76 C, compared to what they were before at 90-97. and I had this turbo boost throttle on, while I did this BIOS update and I think this could be reason 1.
Potential Reason 2: Is that I was trying to update my bios through windows by opening the exe file inside the BIOS folder I downloaded from Acer. the program says Insyde H2OFFT v5.72 and so I was trying to do this through windows, and had my anti-virus program running in the backround aswell as other applications so this could very much likely be why something went wrong.
Now I'm not sure what is the issue and want to know what to do before I make any next steps. I'm not experiencing issues(I think) which shows that my BIOS is corrupted, but instead I believe the issue might be with my drive now, but am not sure and would like help please.
when I turn on the laptop, I get to a blue screen saying Inaccessible Boot Device. after it restarts it gets stuck at ACER logo saying "Preparing Automatic Repair". but If I start PC and press F2 at boot I enter Bios, and then exit discarding changes, It starts Preparing Automatic Repair, but doesn't freeze up this time & then takes me to blue screen saying "automatic repair couldn't repair my PC", and then I have the ability to go into Advanced Options and choose between different things I could try, but would like to know what I should try before doing so, so I don't do something wrong.
I have the option to do a system restore to the last point(a week ago) to when before I installed Intel Extreme Tuning Utility, and I'm wondering if that will fix this? If I do the system restore, will it reset the restrictions I put on the turbo boost, so that way windows would be able to boot? possibly because the new BIOS doesn't allow it? Let me know, thanks.
Also, I can access the BIOS through F2, and it does say that my BIOS version is on the updated Bios which is v1.28. I'm unsure of what BIOS version I was on before this update and don't know how to find out if neccessary. Also I have the ability to do Startup Repair, but want to check before anything
if anyone is familiar with this, and also can help guide me as to what I should do next, and if this blue menu of advanced options would be able to help me, what should I try through it, as it gives me possible options to use a Usb drive, reset PC, start up repair, startup settings, cmd prompt, uninstall updates, system restore, system image recovery. I'm not sure also if I might need to downgrade the BIOS. let me know,
