I was wondering if I could plug a gaming desktop and gaming laptop into my Acer VG271 gaming monitor

I have the Acer VG271 27" gaming monitor.  I want to be able to connect my gaming desktop via the Display port cable and gaming laptop via the HDMI 2.0 cable to the monitor at the same time.  I don't want to use a kvm switch as this will limit me to 60hz, defeating the purpose of having a gaming monitor.  I'm wondering if this setup will work as long as the computer I'm not using is powered off?  I will use a kvm switch to share the mouse, keyboard and wireless headset.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

It will work as long as either PC's are "Shut Down" and no output signal is generated from either PC's and/or either PC's are not in Sleep or Hibernate modes. Best is to disconnect the laptop whenever you use the desktop as its the most convenient of the two and connect the laptop when you want to use the monitor, as having both connected can cause problems.
