I am going to upgrade my ACER ASPIRE A315-55G-5296 laptop and I am going to upgrade it using 512GB Gigabyte M.2 NVMe. So I need to know is that would be a problem if I apply that drive? and which one do I need to buy, M.2 or NVMe?

@JUSA your model support both M.2 SATA and M.2 NVMe so you can install that Gigabyte M.2 NVMe SSD. There will be no problem. If you want to install Windows on the SSD, prepare a USB with the Windows Media creation tool.

The A315-55G has an OEM M.2 interface of "PCIe Gen3 x2" spec, which your intended 512GB Gigabyte M.2 NVMe upgrade is perfect for as its an interface PCIe Gen3 x2, be careful as allot of the new NVMe M.2 drives are PCIe Gen4 x4 that will always run at PCIe Gen3 x2 speeds and its a waste of money paying more if you intend using this M.2 drive only in this laptop? I've given you the Acer SG OEM M.2 drives list and also the different Gen PCIe versions specs, also you can put higher capacity M.2 drives to whatever suits your needs and budget as what is listed by Acer below is a guide.
