Hi, I've recently bought a Monitor and I'm lacking some features, here comes the complicated part.

Monitor has HDMI 2.0 and DP.
Laptop has HDMI 2.1 and USB-C.
I have a HDMI 2.1 cable, which doesnt work since the monitor is not supporting HDMI 2.1.

Is there any chance that i can buy a DP 1.4 to HDMI 2.1 convertor and plug the DP into the monitor, then into the convertor, then the HDMI 2.1 into the laptop and then into the convertor?
If yes, which one will i benefit from? the HDMI 2.1 or the DP?

I hope I've explained it well.

@Anthrax do you have any problem with connecting the monitor to the Laptop's HDMI port? The 2.1 HDMI port should be backward compatible with older revisions of HDMI(2.0, 1.4, 1.3).

From what i've heard on the Internet both the laptop and monitor need to support HDMI 2.1.

The ports work perfectly, i wanted to know if i use a convertor if i get more benefits or it will remain as a HDMI 2.0?

@Anthrax no need to be the same HDMI port revision. It still works perfectly fine.
