I was using my computer normally just checking emails on gmail on chrome and the laptop froze and gave me a blue screen of death. It was not progressing so I force shut it down. When I went back to turn it on it wouldn't let me login to my account saying that "something happened and your pin isn't available" and it wouldn't show me an option to login with my fingerprint reader or the password. I turned to the recovery options to engage the automatic repair but it gives me an error saying that it can't automatically repair the pc. So I tried as a last resort to reset my pc keeping files but around the 12% it quickly displays a message saying that it is undoing changes and takes me back to the recovery/troubleshoot menu. Luckily I have a backup of the few things I had on the computer so I would be open to fully starting from out of the box default settings, but I don't know where to get the recovery media. I've looked at the drivers section of my laptop but there's nothing like that.

Also, does anyone know what could have happened to my laptop, this is the definition of not doing anything and having never used the machine and it just stopped working out of the blue.

Don’t do a Reset within Win-10 as your OS is corrupted and that is why its not working. The first thing thatg you should do is to remove the back cover and completely disconnect the battery and the RTC Battery (small round black battery for the bios) and leave both batteries disconnected for 5 min, replug both batteries and put back cover on and reboot, see if the laptop works properly? As this will reset the OS and bios which you might have some issues with.

After you have done the above and another way is to reboot and when just after the ACER LOGO appears, start to press the F11 Key continually and often until you get into the Win-10 Troubleshooting blue screen and do a “Startup Repair” and see if that fixes your problems if not then do the same with F11 key and do a “System Restore” the same way as that will also work much better than within Win-10 like you have attempted.

I tried removing the batteries and that didn't work; I only managed to break one of the screws. As for the other part about not resetting from within Windows (BTW I'm on 11) I should have been more specific. What you're saying about attempting the startup repair and system restore from the bios and windows blue screen is what I've been doing all this time because if I start windows it won't let me open anything it shows errors everytime I try to open any window, as in it can just stay on the desktop but it won't let me do or select anything nor can I see the taskbar, clock or anytthing but the icons on my desktop. It's pretty bizzarre and something I would expect a mistreated computer to behavr like, but as I said I hardly ever used it.

Do you know if there's any way I can download a reset media kit or something I can use?

    Hi @neosiris
Find a friend that runs Windows11 and has made a recovery drive (USB thumbdrive), borrow that USB thumbdrive and insert it in your laptop, boot up while pressing F2 key to get in BIOS. Go to your last BIOS screen and move the "Boot from USB" option to the top of the list, exit BIOS while saving your new setting. Boot again still with the USB thumbdrive inserted and select System Restore or Reset in the menus.
