Open Control Panel. Search 'button' . Click 'change what the power buttons do' in left pane. Please post screenshot of result

What OS are you running? Is it Win-10 or 11? As the latest Nitro AN's are pretty crazy with sleep mode as I found out with my new AN running Win-11, as its totally different to the older laptops with Win-10. Below is my Control Panel settings at “Define power buttons…” with this settings whenever I put the laptop in sleep mode, the screen sometimes turns off and sometimes it doesn’t but, by closing the lid the laptop goes through a pre-set phase of the following:

    • When closing the lid, the ‘two blue lights’ (top right side) are on
    • After a pre-set time, the right blue light only stays on
Then and when you want to wake the laptop up from sleep and open the lid either of these things happen:
    • First and if 'both blue lights are on' the laptop wakes up with the screen on, when opening the lid.
    • If only the 'right blue light is on' then you have to press the power button to wake the laptop up as it goes through the boot process.

That’s about it with the sleep mode, if that is not happening in your case then press the power button for 5-10 sec and get the laptop to turn off completely and reboot the laptop and make sure that the ‘power and sleep settings’ are at default, if that doesn’t work then open the back and disconnect the battery and leave the battery disconnected for 15min as that also resets the bios and try again as that should work.

Otherwise and if all the above don’t work? Then you either have a 'power key problem' or have internal problems and you need to take your laptop (if under warranty?) to Acer or if not under warranty either take it to Acer or to a local experienced tech to diagnose your laptop for power on issues as there are many power on related issues that you can’t fix
