I recently had my laptop black screen on me but everything seems to turn on.
I hear noise, the keylights pop on, I'm getting some USB devices to power, but no screen or backlight to the screen.
I searched on here for possible solutions. I've tried letting it die, removing CMOS, taking out the hard drives, external monitors, the reset button through the pinhole, but I haven't tried the RAM yet since I'd have to dismantle everything.
The issue started when the computer updated, froze, powered down, and when it reset it was just no screen.
I noticed a post from years ago about flashing the Bios.
I understand the concept of downloading bios to make the flash drive boot device, but I was wondering if anyone had the recovery file name that it needs to be set for the .fd or .bin file.
Additionally, if anyone can point me in the right direction for this model: Predator 17 g9-793-78cm
I've found walkthroughs for the other models, but I can't find the code for my model on here or using some of the other tricks.
I've had it for 5 years and it was a great computer. Worst case I know I can pull some parts from it and reuse those. However, I'd rather have a working PC again.
Thank you for any help or guidance!

from MSmith123:
Hi, you can try to do a BIOS recovery.
Here's the procedure for a Predator G9-791:
First of all, download the following file (BIOS 1.11 with the correct recovery name): drive.google.com/file/d/1zsz6F6HonvnlDbOJMHi6OzpncW4GkwFX/view
Then, do the following steps:
1. Copy the BIOS file to an empty and with FAT16/32 formatted usb stick.
2. Unplug the AC adapter.
3. Plug in the USB flash disk.
4. Press and hold <Fn> and <Esc>, and then plug in the AC adapter while still holding <Fn> and <Esc>.
5. Press the Power button. You can now stop holding <Fn> and <Esc>.
6. The BIOS flash should now begin, the fan will spin up and the power led should change its state.
7. After everything is done, the notebook will shut down.
In case you have another model, please post your model here, so I can have a look.
