Hi All,

I've been through most of the topics here and tried many solutions, unfortunately none of them worked for me and hopefully @egydiocoelho will be able to find for me a solution as well.

First of all, the problem might be starting since my anti virus has put a file on exclusion and then steam was not working and nothing worked. The next day the  Drive D: (1tb) disappeared.

Looking forward for your help

Best Regards,

@Simssimk check in the BIOS to see if the HDD info is still there.

@Simssimk okay, there is a serious problem with the HDD. If your laptop still has the warranty, take it to the place you bought or will have to replace the HDD.

You said "First of all, the problem might be starting since my anti virus has put a file on exclusion and then steam was not working and nothing worked. The next day the  Drive D (1tb) disappeared"

Please try to uninstall the antivirus, restart the computer and check..

If it is still not working..

I am really sorry for the inconvenience..   Let us do the basic steps first..
Doing the power drain and bios defaults will really help.  Kindly follow the steps given below:
Turn off the laptop. Disconnect or unplug the charger cable, devices or any other cables connected to your laptop. Close your laptop. Turn it upside down.  On the bottom of the laptop, you can find a  pin hole. It is a tiny hole. You can a find a battery symbol indicator next to the hole. It is like a + and – sign symbol as though somebody is trying to shift the battery out. Insert the pin on to the hole for 30 seconds. Remove the pin. Flip the laptop. Connect the charger cable, turn on the computer.  Only on laptops where the battery is inbuilt you can find the battery reset hole on the back of laptop.
If you don’t find a pin hole on the back of laptop then you might be using removable battery. There is no need to unscrew anything to remove the battery.  Turn off the laptop. Disconnect or unplug the charger cable, devices and any other cables connected to your laptop. Close your laptop. Turn it upside down.  On the bottom of the laptop, please look at the top or bottom depending on the way you look at it. You can find a long door. It is a battery removable door.  Just below that you can find a latch.  If you move the latch you can remove the battery door. Once the battery is removed, flip the laptop. Open the top cover, press and hold the power button for 1 minute. Connect the battery back on the back of computer. Connect the charger cable back and then turn on the computer.  If you don’t see a reset pin hole on the back of laptop or if you are not able to remove the battery (if it is inbuilt) then please unplug all the cables and devices out of laptop.   Hold the power button for 1 minute.  After releasing the button you should wait a while before plugging in power. Just because the button has been pressed doesn’t bleed off all the residual electricity on the motherboard. Wait 15-30 minutes before plugging in power. Then once power is connected wait for a full battery indication before turning the system on. That allows the battery to fully reset it’s internal statistics.
Connect all the cables back and restart the computer.

While turning on the computer, tap f2. It will go to bios. Press f9 once. It will show load bios defaults with a yes or no popup. Press enter. Popup screen will disappear.  Press f10 once. It will show save changes popup with yes or no. Press enter. Computer will restart and it will load into windows.
    It should work fine..

Hi @William_mk2, I've tried the steps you told me about, unfortunately this did not work for me :(

I will wait for more answer and then if not i will go ahead and take my computer to a specialist.

The warranty has run out, I bought this laptop in 2020 during the first lockdown
  • Hi! Before installing new hardware, just try to disconnect the lithium battery, hard drive and sata cable. It's not complicated, see:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bT0MHnnWXuU&list=FLVBqwtBw09_Z9tXo1Injakw&index=5&t=2s
Then reconnect the hard drive, sata cable and lition battery and check if the hdd shows up in the bios.

    Best Regards,

Simssimk from what you have shown I would firstly suggest that you check the SATA cable that the 1TB HDD is connected to the mobo internally with, as these cables on the Nitro's 2nd drive are very poorly designed and can come lose hence disconnecting this drive. I've had this problem with my AN515-56 which is very frustrating as its a very poor design and it was the actual cable that wasn’t connected properly. Also test this 1TB drive externally with either a SATA to USB cable and/or if you have an external drive use that by taking its HD out and put this drive into its case and test it that way.

    Little update everyone,

Finally received my Samsung M2 SSD and placed it back into the laptop which is much better than a hdd for gaming purposes and got my laptop running back as normal,

Unfortunately I've followed your advice of checking the cable and the hdd, however the hdd seems corrupted or somthing wrong with it i will take it out of the laptop and test it externally and will update you with what was wrong with it!
