Aspire A514-54 suddenly runs so slow

Hi! While I was having a meeting with my client, the laptop became sluggish. Task managers showed no apps hogging system resources (e.g. ram, cpu, disk, etc.). I have tried resetting the pc with no luck. Chkdsk showed no errors and WD Dashboard shows the same. Fresh install didn't solve the problem at all. What's wrong with this? I'm so frustrated!! This is the first and the worst problem I have with this laptop. Can someone help me out regarding this?

P.S. I owned an Aspire 4755g and I have NEVER experienced any problem with this. The reason I bought Aspire A514-54 is because my 10 year old laptop can't keep up with the demands of my work. It works but it's outdated.

Hi,

Usually a fresh install solves the slowness issue. I'd back everything up, reformat the hard drive and do a fresh install (again).
Less likely - perhaps it's an early ssd failure. Check the drive health % with CrystalDiskInfo.

I don’t know which cpu version you have in your Aspire A515-54 as it’s a known factor that with the Intel Tiger Lake Core i3-1115G4 2C/4T (if that is the cpu that you have?) this i3 cpu has limited performance configuration and its slow. Also you need to make sure that you have at least the version 1.22 bios installed as that fixes certain ram and other performance issues, also enable the TRIM command within windows for greater ssd drive performance that will make your laptop ssd function allot more efficiently.

Also its best that you run at least 16GB memory (do a Crucial System Scan to tell you the max and best memory modules suitable for your laptop) as all these steps will improve performance with either win-10 but especially win-11 OS and gaming or editing etc. Make sure that your HDD is not at iots capacity and near full, as that slows systems down, have the OS windows up to date and especially all the Intel drivers by installing the “Intel® Driver & Support Assistant” as that is essential with this laptop as its got allot of components that rely on the latest Intel drivers especially the graphics and chipset, turbo boost driver etc so try all that as any laptop has to be updated and maintained like a vehicle, you cant just keep driving a vehicle or use a laptop and expect it to perform.

One of the most common reasons for a slow computer is programs running in the background. Remove or disable any TSRs and startup programs that automatically start each time the computer boots. To see what programs are running in the background and how much memory and CPU they are using: Open "Task Manager".
